Sure it wasn’t Captain John Kerry? He was in Cambodia, you know.

If libtards were around that time, they would have protested Patrick Henry.

One more time I'd like to take the opportunity to encourage people to watch AMC's "Turn". The first show was really quite good and I usually don't like first episodes.

I wonder if they really tried to replicate how Americans would have talked at that time. Basically the accent sounds Irish to me, which is not surprising given the number of Scots-Irish(Protestant Irish)that had come to America at that point , and the fact many leaders of the revolution were of that background(Patrick Henry being one). Also indicated by the reference by the leading character that certain revolutionary folks from the other town were “Presbyterians.”

British arrogance and abuses drove a lot of people to the side of the patriots. Britain was the most powerful nation on the face of the planet at that time and they couldn’t see the possibility of losing so they were comfortable in their abuses.

The main character of the show Abraham Woodhull was uncommitted till he was forced to pledge allegiance to the king.

They didn’t, as you said this morning, “screw reality.”

Its not my fault that you don’t want to hear any facts.

They were...they were called Tories.

I already told you the facts.

There is no way in hell that Americans will give up their vote for senators. Instead of acknowledging that fact you stamp your feet and and choose to pursue that dead end rather than looking for an alternative that actually has a chance of success.

We just saw 45 state legislatures vote to approve common core and you want to blindly trust them to pick senators for us? I simply say that we should do away with the popular vote for senators and elect them according to how many congressional districts they win. We can still give the state legislatures the power to remove senators.

The British at this time sounded like Americans. The so called British accent evolved in the 1830's and 40's. New Englanders spoke with an accent that was prevalent in Eastern England (Anglia) while Southerners, especially Virginians spoke with an accent from the Southwest of England. The Irish in America at that time were Ulstermen who spoke with a lowland Scots accent and in some cases spoke Scots instead of English.

The residents of Tangier Island in the Chesapeake Bay speak the most pure version of an Elizabethan accent.

You stamp your feet . . . I assure you that your childish and repetitive insults have no effect.

. . . choose to pursue that dead end rather than looking for an alternative. Let me guess. Do you recommend we vote every other year? That will restore our liberty? Funny.

There is no way in hell that Americans will give up their vote for senators.

If you are so sure, then no harm can be done trying to repeal the 17th, right?

Fact: Over half of the states opposed Obamacare in court. States are desperately trying to clean up voter rolls and demand photo ID. It is no secret that Rome-on-the-Potomac is smothering our freedoms. Depending on the poll, Obama comes in around 40%. On campaign stops, Rats run away from his presence. Obama and his rats are weak, and it is the perfect time to take on the statists.

We just saw 45 state legislatures vote to approve common core. Common core is just another dependable, time proven method of the rats to ensnare the states. It is another reason to return the states to the senate.

We can still give the state legislatures the power to remove senators. Oooh, but wouldn't that overturn your precious democratic vote of the people?

Do yourself a favor and read a few works of our Framing generation. Start with Federalist 62.

And you want those same legislatures who imposed it on us to pick our senators.

I thought all British people spoke with a Roman accent.

:)
