Fort Hood Mother to Congress: Why Am I Better Armed Than My Son?
Breitbart ^ | 04/07/2014 | Awr Hawkins

On April 6th, Lynda Voyles-Konecny said concealed carry allows her to be better armed than her son who was 100 feet from the Fort Hood shooter on April 2nd. She is asking Congress to change this.

According to Huntsville, Alabama's WHNT 19, Voyles-Konecny said military personnel "defend us overseas, but they're defenseless at bases."

She continued, "They're trained. They know the rules of engagement, we send them off to war, they have their guns, they come home, and then [their guns are] taken away from them on their home bases."

Voyles-Konecny said every member of her family carries a concealed handgun for self-defense, except her son who is in harm's way via his military service.

Democrat Senator: She’s right! We should disarm her, too.

The ignorance of liberals consistently astonishes me, but claiming that we can’t trust the military with firearms rises to a whole new level of stupid. Concealed carry and open carry should be routine on post/base/whatever, requiring only the CO’s written okay if it even requires that much.

My naivete makes me wonder why the MSM isn’t shocked that there aren’t armed personnel all over the base.

Can you imagine a police station where officers are expected to be disarmed?

That would be funny if it weren’t true.

It really started after WWII. The military was seen as a way to “experiment” with social engineering. One of the things that was desired was that the population only be armed when and where the elite allowed them to be.

That is the model that was implemented in the military over the last 65 years.

I will be surprised if you can find any period in US history when soldiers on base routinely went about armed when not required by their duties.

Officers, yes. That was one of the major differences between officers and “other ranks.” Officers were always armed with their sidearm.

If you can find documentation of the contrary practice, I’d really like to see it.

Why is Obama better armed (through his SS body guard) than most law-abiding American citizens whom he wants to disarm?

Service weapons (rifles) were formerly kept in the barracks.
