Went to the first Royals game today (office thing) - great game, 7-1 (yes it was Tampa, but I'll take it). They have potential, back to 4-4 and still even with this game - (28th in runs...30th in slugging). If they can find some bats, we might be decent. All that being said, they are now wanding you to get into the games and you have to take everything out of your pockets. Anyone know if this is everywhere (MLB thing) - or KC being stupid. How long 'til the shoes come off and they're fondling your junk?
The opening series in Detroit were some pretty good games. Tigers won them but the Royals played well enough that it took walk off hits for the tigers to win them.
Pretty sure that’s common and since the Boston bombings last year they are stepping it up more. At Turner Field in Atlanta you have to empty anything with metal. For me that’s just my key chains (don’t go to baseball games to stare at and talk on cell phone). But with women and their purses that can take some time.
They installed metal detectors and other security measures at Comerica park this year as well.
My favorite player of all time is George Brett. I saw him play 2 of his last 3 games and saw him get his last hit. I still have a bunch of baseball cards of him from when I was a kid.
The Royals will win just enough games to suck you in, then break your heart.
Comerica Park now has metal detectors you have to go thru.........
I've only been to one game in the new stadium but If they're now into handling one's junk, I just might get a season ticket...........
LOL Maybe if the Tiger Girls are handling security.
my question is, how much of this is just security theater, and how much actually deters or catches someone bent on harm?
Sad to say, young people are growing up in a time in which you take for granted having to go through a security check to go to Disneyland, go to a ballgame, enter a government building, etc. Older folks will tell stories of how you just used to be able to walk right in to such places.
Went to three spring training games of their’s this year and thought that they did show some offensive ability but were a bit uneven.
Had season tickets for about a dozen years during Frank and George’s hey-days. Went to the World Series games when they played and beat St. Louis. Have a casual acquaintance with Frank White, my all-time favorite Royal but haven’t talked to him in about six years. Spent some time with him then when he brought some of the minor league guys up to work out with K-State’s Baseball team at Manhattan.
I have my hopes that we could return to the glory of the Kaufmann years.
Tracy Ringolsby thinks the Royals are going to do some damage this year and may be this season’s Pittsburgh Pirates. I have a lot of respect for his opinion.
Surprised they are doing this at a MINOR LEAGUE team facility. KC is the minor league with David Glass ownership.
You left before it was over. Herrera gave up two runs once again showing the weakness in the bullpen. And let’s not forget “Slugger” Moustakis, going 0 for four bringing his BA down to a stellar .038.
Great starting rotation though.
Butler was not that impressive up close during spring training when I saw him. Of course, he hits better than I could, LOL.
How do you like them now?
Beautiful. Nice to get the sweep and a few days off.
Ya think?
