Lawyer of stabbings suspect Alex Hribal: 'All the students liked him'
cnn ^ | Thu April 10, 2014 | Dana Ford

Posted on 04/10/2014 9:36:22 AM PDT by BenLurkin

It would seem no one saw it coming -- not his parents, not students at his school.

Described by his lawyer as "a typical young kid" who has "never been in trouble," 16-year-old Alex Hribal shocked the people in his life and the nation Wednesday when he allegedly went on a rampage at his high school in Murrysville, Pennsylvania, stabbing or slashing 20 students and a security officer.

No one knows yet what might have motivated the attack.

But pieces of Hribal's story are starting to come together, so far painting a portrait of a teenage boy no one ever expected to show such violence.

"He's a typical young kid. He's a B+ student. The family is like Ozzie and Harriet. They have dinner together every night," said his attorney, Patrick Thomassey.

Really a no-information article. Naturally the defense lawyer is going to paint the kid as nice and normal, and the police are going to keep quiet.

Just about ever story I’ve ever seen about school killings and violence starts out this way. No one expected it. This was a nice, normal kid. We don’t understand what happened.

Then, maybe, the reasons why it happened come out, bit by bit, over the next few months and years.

“...Maybe if we weren’t busy creating victims...”

No “we” about it. All you can do is teach YOUR kids (as I taught mine) to fight back, always. I understand your point, but it’s not “we” - it’s liberal/progressive PC crap, foisted by liberal/progressives.

And yes, when I was in HS back in the 70s, if something like this had occurred in my old school, that kid would have been on the bottom of a dog pile of any junior and senior varsity football players within arm’s length, and he probably would not have walked away from it.

Different times, with different people, friend.

Thankfully he didn’t use a gun, otherwise all network news channels would be forced to cover it 24/7 for at least 2 weeks

I saw one of the victims on the news this morning saying he didn’t know if he could go back to that school. My parents would have let me stay home till the doctor released me to go back and I’d have gone back to school.

I’m afraid that parents who raise emotionally strong children are a pretty small minority these days.

My old man would have made me stitch myself back up and walk back to class... He was WWII Airborne and didn’t have a lot of patience! Hahah!

Who cares what he appeared to be? He revealed who he is, and the monster that he is needs to be locked up and never see the light of day.

RE Ritalin:

Wasn’t that the same drug that the Columbine idiots were on when they shot up the school there?

But again... there’s nothing right now saying this kid was on anything.

Couple days, we’ll find out. Until then, it’s all speculation.

“he doesn’t look like a big kid.....were there no football players or wrestlers or farm boys to knock this guy down before he attacked all those people?”

Apparently one kid DID try and stop him just after he stabbed the first kid in the stomach, but he slashed the face of the kid who tried to stop him. Check out some of the early press reports from Pittsburgh and the account is there.

I graduated from HS in '72. During my sophomore, my parents bought me a beautiful Buck knife for Christmas. I wore it on my hip to school everyday, along with at least a dozen other classmates.

There were never any incidents on our campus. We knew we'd be in big trouble if those knives were ever unsheathed (in malice).

“Freaky picture, though. That’s a haunting face.”

There are lots of pictures of me that are the same-—I’d hate to be judged by one pic.

“...I’d hate to be judged by one pic...”

I meant THAT specific picture. He looks sort of like he’s suddenly realizing how far up sh*t creek he is.

Not a good place to be.
