Mom, 44, shot dead ... by husband who was hallucinating after eating a marijuana cookie'...

A Denver, Colorado mother has been shot dead in front of her children by her 'hallucinating' while she was on a 13 minute call to 911, police said.

Kristine Kirk, 44, called for help around 9:30p.m. Monday, telling dispatchers that her husband Richard Kirk, 47, was 'talking about the end of the world' and 'scarring' their three children. A source told FOX31 investigators are looking at whether he had eaten a marijuana cookie.

Mrs Kirk said in the 911 call that there was a gun in the house but it was in a safe, according to a probable cause statement.

'She then said that her husband retrieved the gun from the safe and she began to scream,' the statement reads. A gunshot could then be heard followed by silence.

Officers arrived on the scene shortly after the shooting.

'They were almost there,' Sonny Jackson, a Denver Police Department spokesman, told The Denver Post.

That can’t be right . weed is harmless! It’s the same as tobacco! It doesn’t affect the mind-it has no effect at ALL on you! That’s why people smoke it. And marijuana smoke is GOOD for your lungs!/sarc.
There’s a reason it’s called DOPE!

I should add that I do not need or take psychotrophics for any reason.

My point is that some people simply cannot ingest marijuana and to say that’s not the case is irresponsible.

Not all people have problems with it, but they should be informed that it’s not necessarily a benign high.

Ingested THC has profoundly different effects compared to a smoker dosing themselves with the usual amount.

It's not merely that the dosage is far larger and much longer lasting, but the 'high' can turn psychotic.

Even experienced marijuana smokers are aware of this, and it's not some comical scare out of a 'Dragnet 1968' script.

There is a lot more going on here than marijuana. But, it is going to be a much used excuse for all sorts of crimes in the future.

Maybe he just wanted to "OFF" her, and wants an excuse, as you say. Well, I mean, they had the affluenza defense, why not the cookie defense?

“investigators are looking at whether he had eaten a marijuana cookie.”

<>

“who was hallucinating after eating a marijuana cookie”

Headline and story do not match.

Sounds fishy. MJ does not cause hallucinations.

Keep in mind that your personal experience will mean nothing to a pothead. They won’t believe you.

You can’t argue with a stoner.

I’m sorry but marijuana does not cause hallucinations. If he was actually hallucinating it was due to some other substance or mental defect.

Good point.

There’s got to be more than this. He probably had some mental issues before the brownie.
As other have said, pot doesn’t cause hallucinations. I ate a pot laced brownie unbeknownst to me and while I wanted to kill the person who did it, the effects I felt made me want to sleep, I was so tired there was no way I could have killed someone.
Obviously, the effect is not the same for everyone but I doubt this is the whole story.

“would there have been a problem without the easy access to pot?”

As we know, leftists will blame easy access to a gun.

Marijuana is, indeed, a hallucinogen. The effects of ingested marijuana are far different than those from smoking.

Back in the day, the legal excuse of choice used to be “temporary insanity,” which always seems to me to be accurate, as anyone committing murder is by definition temporarily insane.

Now we have the ultimate airtight excuse for committing murder: “ I am the victim here as THE COOKIE MADE ME DO IT.”
