My son first heard this song during services at boot camp. (He graduated one week ago.) He played this for me yesterday, in the car, while I was driving. I literally had to bite my tongue to keep from crying, behind the wheel, of the car I was driving. A Dodge Challenger, by the way. Rented. Trying to get on the freeway. While biting my tongue.

Held for later. Thank your son for his service!
This is a fantastic song, done, I think, in about 2004-5. Mark Schulz said that he was invited to perform in the outdoor middle of the Pentagon, and that he played this song. He said people came streaming out from everywhere and a multi-star general came up to him thanking him, saying, “This can be a really dark place to work, so this music was greatly appreciated.” The video, done with WW II instead of modern soldiers’ gear, was particularly touching.
I saw the video and noticed that; it’s set in the 1940s.
Done on purpose, to suck in critics of the Iraq war by making the larger point.
Thank you. He’s on a 10 day leave that ends Tuesday.
What branch? (ours did USMC)
Oh, good! Getting past boot camp is right up there as being one of the hardest parts. OOH RAH
I think I did seven loads of his laundry when he got home, and that doesn’t even count the dry cleaning.
