I’m so happy for him and his family! The article states that he brought home a poster in fourth grade entitled “What Do I Want To Be When I Grow Up”. His answer: Happy. May all the happiness in the world fall upon him.

Gee TF2009. Let me guess? You’re the type to piss into a campfire, right? This young man wants to become a Pastor. Maybe he can and maybe he can’t. However, why shouldn’t he try? Think about how he can serve God and preach about the sanctity of life. Think about how many times in his life.. from in utero on... did someone say “you won’t amount to anything.. abort it or surrender it”. Watch the you tube video and see his joy and his family’s excitement about his acceptance. Share in his joy... I promise.. you’ll feel good.

If institutes of higher learning accept and graduate illiterate athletes, why shouldn’t they accept students with Downs?

One of my mentally handicapped students went to college. God help them. Her spiritual gift is chattering.

a college degree is not required to be a pastor or to preach the word of God.

College will help this boy exactly zero and will only put him under a mountain of debt.

Actually, after having read the article... they wont even give him a degree, he only gets the privilege of paying with no actual chance at a degree.

Every Pastor/Priest I know has studied Theology at a college. Plus.. think of it this way. Many people won’t hire someone with Down’s Syndrome simply because they are “retarded”. If he gets computer classes or other classes ... his future job opportunities may open up. He will have shown he took an advanced class and passed it. Instead of the bagging kid.. he could be a checker (better pay). Instead of cutting the grass at a bank, he could be a teller.

I can’t see if your issue is with college in general or a Down Syndrome kid going to college. If it is the latter.. I hate to tell you this but your point of view is why so many Down Syndrome kids are aborted. I’ve heard it with family members and friends who went through a point in their pregnancy where the child may have had Down Syndrome. “Abort it.. it will never be able to support itself. It will be a financial drain on the family.. the siblings. It will never have a full life”. Yes.. the term “it” was applied vs “the baby”.

A parents JOB is to ensure that their child can lead a life when they are gone. They can have a job, cook for themselves, look after themselves. These parents are doing just that... helping their son to succeed no matter what limitations he may face.

My issue is with colleges peddling the lie that if only you go to college you will magically become rich and smart.

Lets be real here. There are 10’s of millions in college today (including this guy) that have no business being there and will get nothing out of it besides a huge bill.

I would encourage the parents of this child to forget about sending him to college and instead use the money to buy him a home and a small building where he can start his own church.

The choice then becomes - give your child a home of his own and a chance at owning his own business.

or

Give your child a worthless piece of paper and a stack of bills and say ... good luck!

Colleges serve a primary money laundering function for Democrats.
That’s why you’ll not see education funding reform anytime soon.
