Friends it's Sunday night again, and time to relax. Warm up the tubes for another four hours of classic radio Americana.

A lovely lineup tonight...Jack Benny's “Walking in the Easter Parade”, a classic...we get a Phil Harris/Alice Faye show...and a Six Shooter! Love the Six Shooter and love Jimmy Stewart.

Again we have an error in the lineup with the Gunsmoke listed for tonight being the one we heard last week, so we have a mystery episode.

There was an “Easter Parade” episode on Jack’s tv-show in 1960, and I’m assuming it was something of a reworking of the radio episode. The tv version was one of the “aired live” ones, but a kinescope of it was included in the dvd-collection that Shout Factory released a year or two ago. One of the funnier episodes on the set.
Speaking of Benny, I need to finally go ahead and order the dvd release of “The Horn Blows at Midnight” (1945) that the Warner Archives recently released. I still have an off-air recording of the movie, which I taped back in 1984 or 1985, off of WTBS. I just gotta upgrade these things!

Today was a busy day, and it just wasn’t convenient to try something special with the pork butt. We had to go over to Mobile, an hour away, to see his Mom, and it put us at a late start on the grill. Maybe next time when time’s not so tight.
Casual French! I can’t even imagine what kind of food that was, being from West Texas and all. :-)
