Presented with no snark or ironic comment whatsoever...
perfect!
Sadly true.
But millions will still put themselves into a lifetime of debt, when they can make more money and almost guarantee themselves a job if they apprentice to an electrician, plumber, mechanic etc.
Some scholarly conservatives could throw a monkey wrench into a lot of the academic works by creating a “Super SAT”, with an extraordinarily high degree of difficulty.
Importantly, very high DOD tests are quite popular among intelligent people, and businesses looking to hire intelligent people. So this “SAT” would not be oriented at college admission, but college *graduates*.
And while universities waiver students with inferior educations (though seldom graduate them with a useful degree), this test would waiver *nobody*.
There are all sorts of purposes to such tests.
1) It lets graduates, and their parents, know if their child graduated from college with a college level education. If not, then why not?
2) While businesses almost certainly cannot use this to determine their hiring criteria, they most certainly could use it as a promotion criteria. Someone willing to do a full days work, while studying hard enough to pass a “Super SAT”, deserves a promotion.
3) It would once again distinguish scholars from pseudo-intellectuals, in that only scholars should be able to pass the test, not liberal blowhards.
Nobody is going to be able to afford to pay someone to work on their homes! With so many regs coming out every year it is getting ridiculous!
Your grim answer will hopefully NOT play out after a couple more elections but I’m far from confident about that.
The next Democrat strategy is to forgive the student loans of people who choose politically correct jobs, that are heavily Democrat.
Answer to the question depends entirely on inflation rate.
High enough, and you’ll be able to repay the loan with pocket change.
My (very limited) understanding is that while it is illegal for a company to administer such a test, there may be some ambiguity about whether it would be illegal for them to consider the results if voluntarily submitted by an applicant as part of his resume.
