RICHMOND — The arrest of a middle school teacher on suspicion of child sexual abuse this week has raised questions about the West Contra Costa Unified School District's hiring practices, because the teacher was hired while police were investigating him.
Ron Guinto, 32, of Vallejo, was arrested about 7:45 a.m. Wednesday in the parking lot of Mira Vista Elementary School. The seventh-grade English and science teacher is expected to be charged with 11 counts of lewd acts on a child under 14 years old, two counts of forced oral copulation and one count of assault with intent to commit sodomy, Richmond police Lt. Andre Hill said Thursday.
Guinto, raised in Vallejo, was interviewed by the Times-Herald in December 2011, about his Camp EPiC, a youth leadership camp styled after the Boy Scouts. He launched the camp while seeking a masters degree in urban education from Touro University, he told the paper.

To be fair, I'm not sure the Richmond police could have offered much about an ongoing investigation even if they had been asked. But a system too paralyzed by fear of being accused of homophobia let this clown slide right into the place he wanted. It's a problem, and it's getting worse.

Yes, but I’m not sure a background check would have turned that up. I’m not sure the police are at liberty to comment on an ongoing investigation. Could be wrong, I really don’t know the law in that state.
I actually met Singer once right before the first X-men was filmed. The group that he runs with don’t act “gay” at all in public.
