Apple releases iOS 7.1.1

Apple today released iOS 7.1.1.

iOS 7.1.1 contains improvements, bug fixes and security updates, including:

• Further improvements to Touch ID fingerprint recognition

• Fixes a bug that could impact keyboard responsiveness

• Fixes an issue when using Bluetooth keyboards with VoiceOver enabled

iOS 7.1.1 is available via Software Update on all iOS devices (via iTunes or Over-The-Air).

Apple today also released iOS 6.1.1 (Build 11D201c) for Apple TV 2G and 3G.

It is certainly worth it. Delete your Facebook app. Before you go in, sync your phone to your computer to get your music and Grandma pictures backed up. . . Then upgrade. If you’re with AT&T, go with their Next program where you pay for the phone on a monthly payment plan. You can then upgrade every time Apple releases a new one and not have to wait two years. Verizon has a similar program. You can actually upgrade right now.

You should be able to have a lot more than that on your iPhone. Mine has only 16GB, but I have over 70 apps. I bank on mine regularly. They are far safer than Android phones. There is no malware for the iPhone. Pay no attention to the FUD being spread by the Trolls like Blue Highway. He’s been spreading HIS anti-Apple tripe for years.

Upgrade and enjoy. iOS 7.1.1 is solid. . . contrary to the naysayers. It’s exceptionally so at the OS level. There are things I’d prefer were different, but all-in-all, I like it after the upgrade to 7.1 increased the width of the fonts and increased the contrast.

Swordmaker still peddling the same apple tripe as the olden days. I have a customer of mine that bought a new cRapphone 5S and they clicked on a link in an email to listen to an audio file (some kind of medical information) and they tried to turn it off but the player that popped up wouldn’t respond to hitting the pause button (how you stop video or audio, right?) They deleted the email in question and it was STILL playing the audio. I suggested taking the battery out as when anything something is frozen that is the best way to just cut the power. Then I remembered... Apple still doesn’t let users have access to remove their batteries... Luckily for them running down the battery wasn’t the only solutoin, but finally got it to reboot after several attempts at a soft reboot

And there's Blue Highway, spreading his peculiar brand of FUD and anti-Apple bile. You don't know how Apple products work, so you assume they don't. That's a real good method of criticism. It says a lot more about you than it does about the over 800 MILLION iOS Devices and users that seem to not have these problems, don't you think? Just closing the browser tab or quitting the iPhone Safari app is beyond you even though the ad maker seems to have locked the pause and stop buttons, something easily done in HTML. You don't even know how the iPhone handles the link in an email. But you gotta imply a general failing in Apple products. Absurd! I've been using iOS devices for seven years and not once have I seen or heard of a situation such as you described.

swap it out for a new one? Why is that, can’t the so called “geniuses” figure it out without having to replace a new phone with a newer one? Sounds like bad hardware or bad firmware no matter how you slice it. Apple’s iOS7.0 is like Windows a ME/Vista/8.1 tragedy. Not even you, Swordmaker can spin this one.

Look, quit being a strawman argument posting idiot. You know as well as I do, that Apple will only replace an iPhone if they can't fix it. I don't have to "spin" anything. A minority of people don't care for the appearance of iOS 7 user interface for esthetic reasons. When it first came out I adjusted mine for contrast and made the fonts bolder and thicker for my older eyes. I liked the colors, was not so pleased with the icons, but most of them, with a few specific ones I detest, grew on me. Frankly, I preferred the Skeuomorphism of the older look over the flat look and wish Jonny Ive had decided to provide a choice. But he did not and the 300 upgraded OS benefits of iOS 7 far outweighed my preference for Skeuomorphic design.

To call it a failure akin to Windows Vista is also absurd. The iOS devices using it are the first (5s), second (5c), and fourth (4s) best selling smartphones and first three top best selling tablets (iPad Air, 4th generation iPad, iPad Mini), in the world. You must have missed Apple just blowing away every anal-lysts' prediction of iPhone sales by over two million. And, no, you can't deny these data. The only one spinning here is YOU.

So esthetic reasons are the main reason that people complain about iOS7? Sounds awfully similar to Win 8/8.1 to me. To be honest if there wasn’t programs like classic shell for windows I would have stuck with Win 7. Microsoft screwwed up with 8 and it seems like post Jobs, Apple is struggling to find their own direction now. As far as their stock price I feel it is way inflated and have been watching it closely. I plan on shorting it short term especially once the DJIA and COMP take a dive as they usually do this time of year.

This wasn’t my phone but it was a new users phone (they were coming from multiple generations of Blackberry). She was not able to stop the player. If there is a separate browser open or if it was within the email client I do not know as I didn’t study the problem. I did see a player (was it iTunes? I don’t know) and there was no way to stop it. Granted on her phone she didn’t have any apps installed to terminate a program which I advised her to check out in case it happens again. You still shy away from the battery issue though. interesting.

I'm not ignoring or shying away from the "battery issue" as I've addressed it with you numerous times in the past. It's a non-issue. I just two months ago retired my original iPhone from June 27, of 2007, which we took out of service as a phone which my ex wife has been using and passed it down to my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter to use as a game player iPod touch. It has the original battery still in it and despite being in continuous use! daily charge/discharge for Seven years—or 2,492 such cycles/days—it still holds a charge equal to 80% of when it was new!

The gross necessity of mechanically pulling a battery is never necessary on an iOS device. Like any computer, it can be forced to shut down if necessary, a very rare event. Those who desire longer charge time have multiple options available in the IOS ecosystem. Those who don't require it, simply don't care.

As I said, your ignorance of the operation is a poor reason to criticize the system or the device.

I found a way around it. I bought a used phone with IOS 6. Problem solved. My two cents—do not upgrade to IOS 7 if you like IOS 6.

I don’t bank on the phone because of reading issues, more than safety. When the best you can be adjusted is 20/30, pica size is a issue. I blow the home computer screen up 3 times at least when I’m on. And that is my BEST vision level..computer distance. AGE, Fibromyalgia which effects the muscles, even eye muscles, my cataract surgeries were 13 yrs apart. Left cataract lens is weaker, I’m very hard to correct.

We just went no contract to save money. I will get my step daughter who is IT to do what you’ve suggested. She has already deleted a few apps or put them in a box if they could not be deleted because of phone functioning.

As you can tell I’m a user, not a fixer. LOL

I have to have her find a way that the photo libraries don’t ‘share’ photos. Her job too.

I don’t have any trouble with Apple, depending on a person’s needs she will recommend Mac or Apple, she repairs both systems. Likes features of 1 over the other, and vice versa. My tablet is Samsung, Net book is Aseus on her recommendation. It is 75% set up now, little different to operate, but I’ll get use to it. IF I can get away from Hubby long enough to learn.
