The officer came to the house in response to Middletons 911 call. Middleton made the call around 11:00 AM, after returning to his home and finding it robbed. Middleton was in his fields when the officer showed up. He was hurrying back to the house when the deputy shot Candy.
According to Middleton, the shooting was baseless. Candy did not bite or threaten the officer.
Shes barking when he pulls into the driveway letting me know someones at our house...
Though shot in the head, Candy did not die immediately. Middleton had no gun of his own his weapons were stolen and tearfully begged the deputy to put down the dog. The deputy refused.
And then I had to do the unthinkable, the otherwise unthinkable, he said. I had to kill my dog with my bare hands and put her out of her suffering, praying for this to be over with.
Other officers soon appeared at the farm, tasers and pistols drawn. They demanded to know whose blood was all over Middletons shirt.
That is the blood of my dog that I was holding because this deputy pulled up and shot her in my yard, he told them.

I think it’s a safe assumption on any homeowner’s part that the dog is in mortal danger if the cops are around. That’s just the way it is. Cops know they can do some killin’ without repercussions, so they do so.
Don’t have the source handy at the moment, but apparently the Deputy claimed falsely that the dashcam would back up his story that the dog “charged” him (it didn’t). Also, examination of the dog’s body revealed that it had been apparently shot while running *away* from the Deputy.
Given how frequently dog deaths seem to be happening these days, I have to wonder if this is actually an element of LEO training, possibly even to establish intimidation.
To the police the important thing is that the deputy went home safely that night. The killing will be adjudged justified because the deputy felt threatened, the only criterion necessary for use of deadly force by police these days.
I watched the video. Cops are sarcastic, well assured of their collective authority and pompous. Hey, “we” built, empowered and supported this tyranny, and people everywhere continue to fund the institution. “We” believe we can’t live without it.
Gee, can anyone predict the results of that? Possible results: (1) No wrongdoing. (2) Citation for Bravery in the Line of Duty. (3) Both. /spit
Thanks for the info.
You may be right. It does seem to be happening with increasing frequency. Law enforcement trends seem to be every more militant and intimidating. Seems more pets and even innocent people are getting shot within seconds of LEOs showing up. It would be a joke, be funny, if it weren't life and death serious.
Can you imagine a police call to a dog park for some minor infraction (fender bender in the parking lot etc.)? The responding officer would immediately call for backup and it'd look like Fallujah before they were done...
I don't doubt that for a minute. And it is job security for cops since dogs are known to deter crime and the cops don't like the competition.
This putrid piece of protoplasm masquerading as a cop should be tasered in his tender spots. He should then be billed for the cost of a new dog and any associated veterinary costs. Finally,he should be forced to take a sensitivity training course and write a letter of apology to the pet owner. What a total piece of slime is this so-called LEO.
This poor man had to kill his own dogs with his own hands to end her suffering. The cop refused the end the suffering but was happy to oblige in inflicting it. The idea of strangling my own dog to end suffering... my mind just won’t let me go there.
Cops are upset because they can’t go around shooting people whenever they get the urge, so they shoot dogs. The psycho deputy could have waited in his car while someone secured the dog, but that would have been beneath him. He is the government.
I feel sorry for the guy.
That would have been too logical. The cop was just answering a report of robbery. Apparently the robber didn’t have to shoot the dog.
Getting really tired of this.
Cops have become the enemy of the American people.
(4)Homeowner charged with whatever comes to mind because he has dared to speak up.
Cops have to be real mental cases to shoot dogs the way they. I guess liberals were right, give some people a gun and they become trigger happy nutcases.
