Students are planning a protest at Smith College in Northampton over the prestigious women's school policy to exclude transgender females from enrolling.
The policy, which drew national press and heated criticism upon its announcement in 2013, will again be under fire by demonstrators on April 24. All participants in the scheduled demonstration will be required by student organizers to undergo a briefing on the policy ahead of time in order to present "a united front," according to a notice announcing the protest.
The controversy began in March 2013 when Calliope Wong, a male-to-female transgender girl, reported that her her application and admittance fee were returned by Smith College because she is not legally recognized as female in her home state of Connecticut. The rejection letter from Smith, which she posted online, outlined the college's position on the issue of transgender students.
The letter read in part:
"Our expectation is that it is consistently reflected throughout the application that the student is a woman. Upon reviewing your file, this is not the case. Your FAFSA indicates your gender as male. Therefore, Smith cannot process your application."
The situation persuaded students supporting Wong and all potential transgender students to collect signatures on a petition asking Smith college to change its policy. And although approximately 4,000 signatures were passed on to the administration, the policy to exclude transgender students at the all-female school is still in place.

wong thread, sorry
Does Wellesley accept transgendered students? The accepted Hillary and no one is sure about her gender.
The Calliope Crashed to the Ground.
Revved up like a deuce.
Another runner in the night.
There are plenty of mental institutions that accept anyone and everyone, no matter how lunatic one is.
Are you including the White House on that list
>Are you including the White House on that list
It is at the top of the list.
Very wong. That ain’t a chick. That’s a dude with his prick chopped off.
He got down but he never got tight, he’s going to make it through the night.
What makes this a big deal is that, although a “Women’s College”, Smith is in the heart of probably the biggest LGBWTFBBQ area on the East coast, and is actually touted as the friendliest place in the US for such people. A substantial number of Smith students are lesbian or at least LUG. That whole area of the Pioneer Valley in MA is so lefty they might as well all be wearing green caps with a red star on them, and nearby Amherst flies the UN flag on the town common.
So for Smith to reject this person’s application smacks loudly of the same kind of “discrimination” that so many in that area loudly decry, including Smith. It will be interesting to see how a lefty bastion handles things when they’re exposed as not living up to their own words and ideals.
So how does Smith College get away with their policy in the freak show we call modern America? Shouldn't any man, just like the man Bradley Manning, be able to declare himself a "her" and become gender eligible for Smith?
Also Facebook says there are 56 genders? Does Smith exclude 55 of them?
But not at Smith College. Bwahahaha!
Nothing “transgender-female” about a guy who still has his junk....
Sum Ting Wong Ping
The name should be “Wang Gon”
LOL.
They don’t chop it off. The penis is mutilated in order to create a ‘vagina’.
These men are truly disturbed.
Yes, these individuals are deeply disturbed. They need help, not mutilation and pandering to their delusions.
And yes, I know the mutilation is more complicated than simply hacking the penis off with a meat cleaver. I assure you, from a sane man’s perspective it doesn’t matter a whole lot.
Didn’t Calliope Wang play SXSW in Austin?
