Mayim Bialik actually is a Neuroscientist with a Phd. She may not be acting as much as it appears. That’s one smart cookie.

I saw an interview with one of the producers once. Can’t remember his name. But he said they’ve gotten superstitious about Penny’s last name. They might reveal it in the very last episode, but not before.

Also, the first names of the two main characters were chosen as an homage to actor/producer Sheldon Leonard.

Yep. Sheldon’s “spot” is a HUGE spectrum thing too. Also, how picky he is about how Leonard orders his food.

you can’t tell anything from that…..and even from watching the first few shows. Be self righteous if you want however…..

It is not a matter of self-righteousness at all. It is a matter of taste. That show is not funny. It has no comedy about it. It may pass for comedy, but it is still not funny. The 'soft kitty' prevue is pathetic and nauseating.

Who would do that?

i agree with you about Soft Kitty…..but do tell me, what is a show you consider funny?

Sanford and Son
Frasier
Taxi
Friends
All in the Family
Family Ties
MASH
Andy Griffith

others? none?

Sheldon’s mother had him “ tested”. Several times.

And she’s the only one on the show with a real life PhD., in the same field she portrays on screen.

Well a couple of reasons:
A: Because it is obvious that you’re a humorless prig and therefore, your opinion on a comedy is simply not valid, period. If you don’t like any sitcoms, and apparently you do not, then your opinion is not relevnat.

B: Its good form to back up your opinion on a message board, not just do drive by snipes with no explanation, no back up, nothing but attitude.

That is certainly not good form. I just don't think tastelessness is comedy or funny. And, that which goes for comedy nowadays is tasteless. Today, what goes for comedy is nearly always below the belt. That is, having to do with sex, or the lack of it.

Is that enough explanation for you?

Yes, you validated my theory A. You are a humorless prig (a description, not a name) - because there are many sitcoms with no sexual inuendo, of all genres, and you don’t like any of them.

You are right. I don't like any of them because they are inane and infantile. There is really no substance to their humor(if that is what goes for humor these days).

Perhaps you should look, yourself, to the comedy of the past, maybe you might gain some objectivity.

you are really reeling now….struggling, flailing……you see, I never said I didn’t like any of the comedy of the past. It is absurd for you to assume it. There is nothing in what I wrote that would lead a logical person to assume it.

Burt again, you cannot give a single example of anything you think is funny. I don’t think you like anything. Since laughter is the best med, I hope your life premiums are paid up.

Don' believe in or buy life insurance. The insurance agent is trying to sell you a product from which you won't benefit and trying also to convince you that you are going to die. All the while he knows from an actuarial standpoint you will live to the average life-expectancy or beyond.

I am not reeling or failing. But, if you think that what we have today is comedy then one can only assume that you haven't seen funny comedy.
