Thanks. That was a good article. I spotted the end of the real-estate bubble when I was in the gym and this loud-mouthed certified *sshole said, “I just bought me three houses to flip this morning.” I stopped my workout rushed home and put my house on the market. I sold it for more than twice the purchase price and the bubble was noticeably deflated when we closed. I haven’t invested in tech since sometime in the 90’s. Actually, I think the whole market is a bit inflated. I’m currently looking at moving my 401k into rental property.

I used to drive by the NUMMI plant every day on my way to my first real job in Fremont. I bought a 2005 Pontiac Vibe that was built there—still driving it with 150,000 miles.

Then Toyota pulled out of the NUMMI partnership. Last I heard, Tesla is using the plant.

They’re going to have a figure out a way to get supplies to Texas without going through California. You KNOW some kind of excise tax is being discussed.

I think if things keep moving in the direction I see, Tesla might one day move away.

Tesla has annouced plans for a new battery plant. They haven't yet selected the site, but have stated it won't be here in Kalifornia.

I look for the CA tech companies to start moving to Austin. It’s a blue city in Texas. They’ll feel right at home.

I do wonder how many “support” jobs will be lost with the move. It’s got to be a high number.

At least an equal number...Toyota, when they moved in to their HQ..used a lot of small local companies..and when you consider that 5,000 jobs lost..say at an average of $75K @..well, that’s a lot of cash that doesn’t get spent in the community anymore..

“When will Californians learn.‘

Never, which is why I left. California is a majority Hispanic state losing business and its white population. Soon all that will be left is a few rich liberal enclaves and one big Bell Gardens......

The film industry has already been increasingly saying goodbye to Hollywood.

Yeah, and a lot of those libs are moving their industry to Austin, Texas. Problem is that they bring their leftwing politics with them.

Think of just how huge and heavy a lot of car fab equipment is —it is hugely, hugely immobile, and a move for such a company is not at all a casual thing.

Since they closed the Fremont plant that they operated for GM in 2010, Toyota has no manufacturing facilities left in California.

This move involves only marketing, sales and headquarters personnel.

Toyota's move is seen as a victory for the Lone Star State, which has been courting California businesses.

Fixed it.
