Last thread on this subject:
If an NBA team owner said that he thought that certain statemnets from Louis Farrakhan were anti-Semitic or racially charged, did not want him to be the center of attention in his arena and have cameras and the media/televison's making a scene over him, could that NBA owner ban him from his arena?
Could the NBA ban Farrakhan? Would Larry Johnson want him to be banned?
I asked a question on another thread of mine and some said that the NBA could ban him.
I countered (when McDonald's was brought up) that if Sterling owned a Los Angeles McDonald's franchise, that McDonald's would be in their right to pull his ownership as it might taint their brand - but they could not ban him from coming into a McDonald's in Chicago and buying a Big Mac ike everyone else.
And so, how can Sterling be banned from going to see a Bulls-Knicks game in Chicago? Buying a ticket and sitting in a seat, and buying a burger and eating it in a seat in Mcdonald's - same thing, right?
But when he becomes a non-owner, things change...
Look it comes down to this.
The NBA, a private organization, has a written contract that Sterling agreed to. He agreed to punishments doled out by the commisioner and a fine of 2.5M dollars if he violates the rules.
He violated the terms and by contract has to accept whatever punishment the NBA has handed down.
Can he sue to get out of it? Sure. And if a court over turns the ruling great.
But this whole morally wrong nonsense? It is just that, nonsense. The NBA, a private organization, has chosen to ban one of its owners from all of its facilities, which it has every right to do so based on the terms of the agreement signed between the parties
The ban on Sterling is based on his voluntarily signing the NBA Constitution, which gives the Commissioner that power. Farrakhan didn't sign it.
I think all whites should be stopped at the stadium entrance. Obama will furnish all their phone calls and web postings to the “guards”. If they perceive anything anti-black, they will be cuffed, removed and go to jail.
here is another question. if he is banned forever and forced to sell who is going to make him pay the fine?
Tell Adam Smith, capitalism’s Founding Father (if he were alive today), that morality is nonsense.
A person who is a racist, owns a McDonald’s franchise, loses it because he is caught being racist - another franchise owner couldn’t possibly bar the former McDonald’s franchise owner from coming in and buying a Big Mac.
The court would throw out any thing he signed if any owner tried to keep him from coming in and buying a Big Mac.
Some contracts have parts that are worthless the moment they are signed
But, there are some parts of contracts that are worthless the moment they are signed. They would get tossed out of court.
The former McDonald’s hypothetical argument - if he went in and tried to buy a Big Mac, and the owner said “No, you violated the contract on the part about causing a stain on the company’s name, no burger for you!” - a court would throw out any part of that contract - because it kept him from coming in and buying the Big Mac.
Havent heard a peep in the media about what Shaq did..of course not..now if he were white that would be a different matter..and Farrakhan would never be barred from an NBA game, remember, he’s a white/jew hater..therefore that’s acceptable
Could they ban Michael Vick for killing dogs????
The “race, creed, gender “ thing is a human construct. What humans have created, humans can add to it.
It can be expanded.
Gotta have BOTH of Adam Smith’s works working simultaneously, or capitalism falls apart.
Fogiveness is a moral issue.
No, it forgiveness not be imposed, or forced, but no true capitalist can truly be a capitalist while going against Smith’s “Theory of Moral Sentiments.”
If what you say is true (last 19 words especially), then why would any Christian, conservative, etc, possibly want to go to an NBA game?
Ive been a fan of the NBA my entire life, my Dad got me hooked on the Lakers, been a fan ever since. What I am seeing happen to the NBA is truly sad..that your only allowed in if you follow the company line, the liberal line otherwise your ostracized. I just read how the left is going after the owner of the Orlando Magic because he believes in traditional marriage..I saw this coming, you disagree with the lib mentality and they take everything away from you
NBA definition: Embarrassment => Loss of Revenue
So Embarrasment is not allowed. It is prohibited. The punishment is severe. And, I'm betting, Donald Sterling signed up for that punishment on the assumption, a reasonable one, that it would never apply to him.
He lost the bet.
But Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and the like aren't in the NBA Club. They didn't sign anything. So they are free to say what they like and still go to Clippers games.
Probably next is the Orlando Magic owner for supporting marriage.

DeVoss can have my support when he pays me back the $15,000 he owes me with interest for the last 16 years.
Jews don’t play basketball, so racism against Jews is OK. Christians and conservatives are always acceptable targets for racism today.
Lets face it the NBA is a corrupt and neo-racist institution. They are anti-free speech PC operatives of the first order. As far as I’m concerned, the NBA can do as they please, but those that despise hypocrisy and respect free speech and property rights should boycott the NBA.
Why on earth are you conflating Adam Smith, morality, and the NBA? And if you are, you would realize how a private organization has the right to do what it is allowed to do within the constraints of the agreement between 2 parties
