He looks quite a lot like a woman to me. Maybe they beat him up because she wasn’t open to sexual overtures from them.
I’ve heard some of these cases happening to cross dressing prostitutes.
In those cases, man picks up what he thinks is a girl, and “she” agrees to perform a sex act on him. But then he starts checking “her” out, and becomes enraged when he discovers that “she” is really a “he”, if you know what I mean.
It doesn’t excuse violence or murder, but, trying to pretend that you are a different sex than you really are, in some contexts, is a dangerous thing to do.

Saw something similar happen in Oklahoma 1996.
Dude dressed as a woman grabbed some dudes backside.
Guy turned around, saw beard stubble and freaked.
This guy.. dunno.
Maybe his voice was a tip off.
