Speed is winning today. I still say, if CC breaks well, he wins. But, it’s Derby. Good starts from the 5 hole are NOT guaranteed

I never saw the camera on her face, so thankfully I don't know who she was.......but whoever the filly was who sang the National Anthem should be taken out to the back forty and put out of her misery.

It was Jo Dee Messina... and, I thought she did OK.

You try singing that in front of 165,000 people.

Well, I THOUGHT I was covered.... That freaking Commanding Curve cost me more than $1500 when he snuck in for 2nd...

damn... damn... damn...

Still... had a little on CC. SO, not a wipeout today. But. JUST missed the BIG payout. :-(

Great race. Good thing they running against Secretariat. He would have beaten him 29 1/2 lengths. Pretty amazing if you think about it, which I always do when I watch all the triple crown races.

"That freaking Commanding Curve cost me more than $1500"

My mom is having a big session of "woulda... coulda... shoulda" now, over her not including Commanding Curve in her bets- so she lost money today too.

I lost a little bit, but I didn't bet much-I "shoulda" put it all on California Chrome to win-instead of exacta bets- LOL.

But I'm so happy he won- Score a victory for the little guys for a change. What a great story.

I hope he can win the Preakness so we'll have a Triple Crown bid this year.

Anyone else bothered by the homosexualization of the Kentucky Derby?

Agree with you about Secretariat. Today’s horses aren’t anywhere near him in any comparisons. He was truly one of a kind.

He won but if the race had been a little longer, Commanding Curve or Danza might have caught him. Go back and look at the replay. He was losing steam at the end.

I normally never pay attention to the Kentucky Derby but I happened to be at a family function yesterday and they had it on the television sets.

I never knew the Kentucky Derby was such an extravaganza. I always thought it was some silly 90-second horse race that a bunch of people gambled upon - hence the appeal.

But no, it is apparently more than that. Hours upon hours of "pre-race" coverage on the television. More than 165,000 people on hand sipping the obligatory mint juleps and wearing funny looking hats. Homosexual figure skaters (?) doing the TV commentary. Tiny little men (jockeys) wearing funny looking shirts and having to be lifted up upon their horses by larger men.

It was really an odd spectacle. But it did make the afternoon go faster.

I have it down to My Old Kentucky Home, the intro of the horses on their way down the track, and the race and 1 re-run. Total time about 10-12 minutes. Thanx to dvr.

Those horses all look the same to me. They were running around that track pretty fast and those jockeys were holding on for dear life. I figured if any of them were unfortunate enough to fall out of the saddle, they would be trampled to death by the horses behind. So if you were to fall off a horse during a race, you might want to arrange it so that you are in last place.

Not to mention the very realistic looking computer graphic simulation of the race they had on about a half hour before post time.

Looked amazing!

I saw some fag prancing around all full of himself, was hoping he got trampled by a run away pace horse.

I saw that. I'm thinking they should just stick with the computer simulation and send everybody home - horses and people.

Instead of betting on the actual race, just bet on the computer simulation. Eventually, all our sports will be played this way.
