A brave labrador rescued two canine pals who were stuck on a boat floating down a rushing river.

In a scene reminiscent of Disney family movie 'Homeward Bound', the clip shows two dogs stranded on a canoe, drifting down a fast-flowing river.

When they bark in distress, brave black labrador Robbie leaps into action - fearlessly swimming across the rushing water towards his pals.

The canine hero reaches the boat, taking a rope attached to the front in his teeth and pulling the pair across the fierce current to safety.

Robbie's proud owner is heard in the background offering words of encouragement - saying "Keep going, boy - bring him home" - before getting a soaking from his hero pup as he shakes himself off.

It seems like the video link is gone. If you viewed it, do you by chance have the link in your history tab? If so, I’d love to have it.

Yes, I was thinking it looks staged, too. Still, a good trick.

You might want to put your dogs out before watching it, though. Mine just went crazy when they heard all that barking.

I suspect some very good “clicker” training!

I train dogs, so know how effective it can be. Not hard to teach it at all. All three dogs got treats when the” trick” was complete.

It took the video a minute or so to load.

Great dog. I have only white water rafted one time, and I was a terrible student, but still had fun. Still, I wonder who put or left those two big dogs in that canoe anyway? They should not have been there left defenseless. Secondly, if the man speaking owned the dogs and that canoe, should he have started equiped with a long, hooked wooded pole that would allow him to pull the boat closer? Either way, it was nich to see the black dog display the innate ability to reason and act. Last thing. Who ever was busy playing paparazzi also could have got up off their duff to help these frightened animals. I’m sure there are times that our pets could just strangle us! Some of us haven’t a clue.

Exactly my thought. The dog was trained to do that and then they filmed it. How hard would it have been for the other two dogs to jump in the water and swim to “safety”?

Looked staged to me, the dog in the prow picked up and dropped the lead rope out of the boat as the lab was swimming towards it.

I hate staged events that are claimed to be otherwise. I suppose the producer is going for a job in the Obama administration.

And how did the dogs get alone in the boat while the nonplussed owners filmed it? Also, the dog seemed to know where the line on the boat was to pull it in. Obviously, he has done it before.

Cool training, but it looks staged to me as well.

The Mirror picked this up off the internet somewhere.

This is a pretty standard water-rescue training exercise. The owner was having fun - and so were the dogs. Note the wagging tail on No. 1 and his "helping" with the rope (next pass it'll be his turn).

The story got added somewhere along the way, as sometimes happens.
