Many years ago there was a weird movie I saw late at night, with Buzkashi as the theme. The two leads were Jack Palance as the old buzkashi hero and Omar Sharif as his one-legged son vying to become the new one. Does anyone remember that one?

The Horseman. I thought it a great movie with superlative horsemanship and portrayal of the then Afghan society.

It was a fine movie.
Both Palance and Sharif were superb actors.
And it did indeed have old Afghan life there, warts and all. No PC there.

I like the bit where they use a scrap of the Koran as a good luck charm in the binding of wounds. Totally authentic bit of folk superstition. Must really annoy the modern nuts.
