I always was a conservative, which set me at odds with a lot of my contemporaries, constantly. Coming from a family of WWII veterans, I was schooled right, and proudly so.

Yes, it was. And it paid the bills too, in addition to my day job.

Wow -- you 'n me both, Brother FReeper. I wanted to be a pretty feathers-n-flowers-in-her-hair Earth Mama, living as I did at the gateway of Big Sur in California, but ... it was kind of like a fish wanting to be a butterfly!! {^) I just couldn't embrace the ninny state of mind that being a real honest-to-god Earth Mama would have entailed!!! {^) I was just too Republican (that was back when being a Republican meant being a conservative).
