Holy cow, never heard of this guy. Hank's grandson. Kind of refreshing to hear outlaw country again.

He hangs out in a Punk band. Every now and then he cuts a country album to make some money. The thing is, he’s good at country. He just doesn’t like it. Best album so far is Locesick, Broke, and Driftin’.

Listen to his version of Johnny Paycheck’s song
and tell me he doesn’t sound exactly like his grandfather.

He looks - and sounds - more like HW than HWJr does.

Just finished listening to a 3-part Hank III interview on YouTube called Trashville. Pretty interesting. Apparently, he’s come around on country music. Now likes it.

Oh, Lovesick, the entire album, is on YouTube. Listening to it now, thanks. Can’t believe I never heard of this guy. Boy, when you turn your back on the Nashville bigwigs, you can kiss your career goodbye.

Thanks. Surprised how good he is, though I shouldn’t be, given his pedigree. Sounds like he’s on the outs with his pop, too... refers to him as being dead.

I’ve seen a couple of interviews with him where he said that Waylon Jennings was more of a father to him than his own father.

Has always seemed more like Hank I to me than Hank Jr ever did. Hank I was more about authenticity and honest, raw emotion than “Nashville”, he would probably have gotten along better with Bon Scott or Johnny Ramone than with the corporate ass-clowns who wrecked country music after his death.

David lee Roth wrote ‘ been to the edge- there I stood and looked down”, Hank *DID ^go to the edge, and came back to write about it. You won’t find professional musician of any genre, from reggae to bebop to thrash who will deny that.

Cranky .02

Yup.

Hank Sr. was the better poet of the three, - - - so far.

He and Hank Jr supposedly have a somewhat rocky relationship, although I have heard Hank Jr say he hopes Hank III makes it big.
