HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL (WFLA) - The girl shown in a home video in a pink top is Megan Campbell. She died at her Avila home on Wednesday morning.

Megan spent many hours at her home.

“She was the girl didn't get brought down by anything. She was always happy. Full of life,” said Lincoln. “And that's the legacy that all these girls would want to leave behind for Megan.”

Investigators dropped several bombshells at a press conference Thursday evening.

“What I can confirm to you is that all four individuals were shot,” said Col. Donna Lusczynski of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Lusczynski stressed that law enforcement officials are waiting for the medical examiner to confirm the identities of the victims.

However, Kim Campbell’s father confirmed to News Channel 8 on Thursday that Darrin Campbell, his wife Kim, their teenage kids, Megan, and Colin were dead.

On Sunday, surveillance video shows Darrin buying more than $600 worth of fireworks.

“Fireworks could have been used to ignite and keep the fire aflame,” Col. Luscznski said. “We can also confirm that he purchased several gas cans at a local home improvement store that same day.”

While investigators aren't saying it, some evidence seems to point to Darrin Campbell.

“A firearm was recovered in the residents that was registered to Mr. Campbell,” said Lusczynski.

Horrible. People who want to do the murder-suicide should start with the suicide part.

“We can also confirm that he purchased several gas cans at a local home improvement store that same day.”

I, as founding and only member of "Dads Against Unregistered GAs Cans" or DAUGAC, hereby demand laws for gas can registration and the imposition of a 30-day waiting period for any container which might be utilized for holding gasoline or any other flammable or combustible liquid.

If only professional tennis had been outlawed, this might never have happened.

Indeed. Too bad he didn’t get confused on the proper sequence.

Who writes this stuff?

That said, a terribly sad story.

FYI..The dad was the TREASURER of his kid's school. I've spoke with people connected to the school who say they are now frantically auditing the books and the accounts. I'll wager he was embezzling for several years..

The father fits the profile of what the FBI terms a "family annihilator."

He's been struggling financially for years..hasn't worked..couldn't take being branded a failure had in his mind had to "rescue" his wife and kids from HIS failure." Stupid SOB should have just shot himself.. let his family have the insurance $$

I wondered about all the jobs he has had in the past. He didn’t stay at any of them for very long. That would make sense!

The following items should have a registration requirement and a 30-day waiting period.

Gasoline cans
Diesel cans
Glass bottles (could be made into Molotov cocktails)
Plastic bottles (see above)
Paint cans
Beer cans

Be very careful what you wish for as you may be surprised at what you get...

During the mid 1960's race riots erupted in various large cities, one of which was Milwaukee. Their riot quickly fizzled out after one store was torched around 16th and Brown. The response was to declare a 24 hour a day curfew, one facet of which was to ban all gasoline sales that were not dispensed into an automobile tank. They also banned all sales of alcoholic beverages in the county. The National Guard was brought in to post jeeps with machine guns at major intersections.

I remember it well as 27th August 1967 was the day I graduated from engineering college. I remember driving in from the burbs and meeting the first intersection with an armed patrol. They were very nice and sent me home with out any problems. I had to drive south of the county line to get liquid refreshments for my "graduation party".

Regards,
GtG

PS The Chief of Police, and the Mayor had an action plan and good intelligence. They dropped a lid on things before there was a chance to get out of control, I suspect they could never do that today.
