A judge on Monday ordered an investigation into the whereabouts of Casey Kasem after an attorney for the ailing radio personality’s wife said the former “Top 40” host had been removed from the country.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Daniel S. Murphy ordered a court investigator and adult protective services to find out where Kasem is being treated and report back to the court. Kasem, 82, suffers from advanced Parkinson’s disease, can no longer speak and has been in various medical facilities chosen by his wife, Jean Kasem.

Casey Kasem’s children have complained that they have been unable to see their father in accordance with an agreement with their stepmother. Daughter Kerri Kasem had sought a temporary conservatorship and was appointed her father’s temporary caretaker on Monday. Her attorney, Troy Martin, said the family believes the entertainer has been taken to an Indian reservation in Washington state. …

Sounds like family problems between the kids and the current wife. To bad. A local radio station still plays reruns of American top 40 on Sunday mornings. Boy that takes me back.

May God bless and protect Mr.Kasem.

Kinda odd that the wife hides him. This could be ugly.

Libs and money...always a volatile combination. Jean Kasem clearly wants the estate for herself, and is determined to keep the children away. Meanwhile, the kids have issues over Kasey leaving his family for a younger woman 30+ years ago.

By some estimates, Casey is worth somewhere around $80 million, though he did put his mansion up for sale last year (or more correctly, his wife did). More than enough money to fight over, and it looks like Jean Kasem is trying to liquidate much of the estate before he expires.

The real winners in this one will be the lawyers. There will be one hell of a probate battle after Casey expires.

Lived in Taiwan in my young years, had a China girl, and we spent countless hours listening to Kasey Kasem’s top hits on Armed Forces Radio.

It would be interesting to know what his will says. If the wife is liquidating assets is there a reason to do so other than to hide them?

In reading the comments, apparently the kids have a trust and the will already leaves everything to the stepmother and their child. He’s supposedly being hidden on an Indian reservation. So sad. End-stage Parkinson’s, his kids should be allowed to see him. The daughter has now been granted conservatorship. Presumably if the stepmother was in the right, she could go to court herself if she has a legitimate reason to bar the children from seeing their father.

I don’t think so. Advanced Parkinson’s is no picnic. My spouse has it... Caregivers tend to shield people they care for. It’s so easy for them to be taken advantage of. Yes, even by their kids.

He’s supposedly being hidden on an Indian reservation.

"Indian Reservation" by Paul Revere and the Raiders reached #1 on July 24, 1971. Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars.

I once heard that Casey was a Sikh. If true, is this some ritualistic thing? Only the top ten answers will be considered.
