Loving the new series of Game Of Thrones and cant wait for the next episode? Go back and watch episode three again as there may be something that you missed
GOT linguist David Peterson - who created Dothraki and High and Low Valyrian for the HBO series has revealed in an interview on makinggameofthrones.com that there is a hidden Easter egg.
One of the biggest is from episode three this season, he explained.
Theres a scene where the Meereenese rider is challenging Daenerys champion. Hes shouting and Nathalie Emmanuel [Missandei] is translating but shes not translating what hes saying. Hes actually saying a Low Valyrian translation of the French guys insults in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. That was [creator] Dan Weisss idea and it was so hilarious that I had to do it.
Heres the scene in question:
And heres the original Monty Python clip:
This wouldnt be the first time that the show based on George R. R. Martins books has given a nod to the Pythons the pilot was shot in the same castle where Monty Python And The Holy Grail was filmed.
If Weiss has his way, this latest link may not be the last as he told Vanity Fair: Youre very aware of the fact that at any given moment in the show you are probably no more than fifteen degrees away from Monty Python.
All you really need to do is turn it and take it there. And its so tempting sometimes, because it was another formative influence for me, and it would be really funny to steer it into Monty Python.
The members of Monty Python should be offended
The word “hot” seems overused and woefully inadequate here...
Many a k’nigit would fall on his sword for her.
I will not buy this armor. It is scratched!
Many have raised a sword for her! ............... Sorry
Any dead parrots?
I’ve never actually watched this show but she would make an excellent Queen Elsa in a live-action adaptation of “Frozen”.
Outstanding.
the had great sewing machines in the medieval times apparently
She would make a great live Action Queen Elsa. She could add that too her list of titles.
