....the National Basketball Players Association has made it clear they want both Sterlings removed by the start of the 2014-15 season, and one of the players unions executives is threatening a boycott, led by four-time MVP LeBron James, if that deadline isnt met.
If its not handled by
the start of next season, I dont see how were playing basketball, NBPA vice president Roger Mason Jr. said in an interview with Showtimes Jim Rome. We have player reps, weve got executive committee members

I agree, but with these people, there’s always a reason “to march” and “protest”. Double-Yawn....
Isn’t a threat of boycott a form of blackmail or extortion?
“You do this action, or I will financially punish you.”
I disagree, SoFloFreeper. Those players have every right not to work if they don't want to.
In their case, they actually ARE the business. This is not a manufacturer in which the employees are largely interchangeable parts. These are the best basketball players in the nation.
Do I think it's a bit silly for the nation to swoon over people who put a round ball through a round hoop and pay them hundreds of millions to do so? I sure do. I haven't watched a minute of the NBA this season. (But I do watch baseball and football, so I'm not innocent.)
I think it's silly, but it's also an entertainment industry business and it makes billions of dollars a year.
And in this case, the players hold a very good hand...a royal flush if necessary. So, if they want NOT to play, these owners have made them rich enough to enjoy sitting at home. And you just know that you know that in this age of player agents that no agent of any player would permit a contract so binding that the player has no options whatsoever.
These players could start their own league and be free of the owners who really have nothing if they don't have the players.
Please do, LeBron. That would make BB more interesting. I have quit watching but the soap opera would be popcorn worthy.
Sounds like blackmail.
Good, I hope it bankrupts the league and leaves them all unemployed. I grew up loving basketball and playing it. Have not watched it in 20 years. It has become a shell of the game it was.
I’m boycotting them now. I am not watching the games I would normally watch. Those thugs should boycott now and really show their offended.
Pray America wakes up
let em strike/boycott... Sterling is just an old coot idiot, LeBron et all are just flat out buffoons.
NBA isn’t basketball... anyone who loves the game cannot watch what it is today.
He could be a REALLY tall janitor. :)
Wish I watched so I could stop watching. Screw the NBA and the NFL. I quit watching baseball years ago after their hissy fit and strike and now I am done with the NFL. Screw them all!
Yep.....boycott away. Maybe all whites should boycott since they are racists. Btw....non of the current p,suers would be where they are if the two step rule was still enforced
Go for it La Bronze. Why dont you boycott walking too?
Agreed.
Yes....players start their own league. I’m sure with their business acumen the endeavor will be successful
With their money, and their ability to bring in more money, I’m sure they can hire a general manager for a league.
There is absolutely NOTHING about ownership of a sports franchise that says “sharp businessman” to me. First, they are legal monopolies. Next, they are purchases. Third, their draft rules make them semi-socialist. Fourth, they are entertainment with huge TV contracts that pay for the players on the floor, not for the paperwork guys in the main office.
That’s one reason I prefer following the English Premier League, bad teams get relegated, so you can’t simply coast and get your share of the revenues....If you suck, you’re gone.
That’s not a boycott - it’s a strike.
I have no use for the NBA. Well, perhaps except for its propensity to illustrate how destructive liberals are.
Why boycott 1 team when you can boycott them all!
