If the NBA were really all that serious about the "race" problem with the Clippers they should:
1) cancel the series and advance their opponent
or
2)not televise the series and deny the Clippers the money.
If they had that kind of power they probably would.
After that sickening collapse in the last two minutes of last night’s game — looks like the Clippers are going to advance their opponent themselves.
Isn’t there some sort of sharing of revenue arrangement where each team gets a share of all TV revenue generated especially in playoffs? So cutting out the TV revenue from the game would hurt all the different team owners. In addition there would be a lot of law suits for the loss of advertising that had been paid for by advertisers which the league would be liable for since it’s their action that would have cut the available playoff revenue. Also wouldn’t your suggestion hurt the Clippers players revenue. I suspect they get extra money for each play off game they participate in. What is the network going to fill in the time for the missing games? Remember they paid the league a lot of $$$ for the privilege of broadcasting a certain minimum number of games per round. They’d want their money back not from Sterling but from the league.
Also having the games televised people will tune in to see what the team does and to hear what the MSM media has to say about Sterling and how bravely the team is soldering on.
Like Joel Grey says,
Money makes the world go round, world go round etc.
Hadn’t considered the last point which I think is a valid one.
