RE: How long have you been working for MS?
Actually the more accurate question is : How long have you been working for with MS Technology?
The answer is -- since I started my tech career. I'm glad I stuck with them. Their technology has been my bread and butter for over 2 decades.

I’ll wait for the model that includes the K5000M. Cool nonetheless!

Won’t work for me either.
The screen is too large.
I am using an eight inch full windows tablet that I can have always with me.

"The Surface Pro 3 gives its mobile roots a nod with the inclusion of a full-fledged digitizer pen with 256 points of pressurejust like the Surface Pro 2. In fact, the entire Surface Pro 3 design revolves around note-taking; beyond the 3:2 aspect ratio, Microsoft has baked OneNote integration deeply into the pen." I spoke with a guy who does 3-D modeling with Adobe products for 3-D printers. He raved about the Surface Pro 2's pen quality and accuracy. With the higher res screen, this must be a nice upgrade. To my knowledge, Apple has nothing equivalent.

I would LOVE a small travel laptop like this but unfortunately I’m stuck using a high end graphics card.

I think that’s the market Microsoft intends to capture — those who want to do serious office work WITH MOBILITY.
For the most part, tablets have been designed to be great for watching movies, reading books, playing games, browsing the web, and amazing for digital snacking with apps.
Most laptops OTOH are designed to help you type term papers, write letters, work on big applications, work on spreadsheets, browse the web, create content, make movies
you name it.
In designing Surface, MS wanted to design a device that can marry the power of the full PC without compromising the sleek finish, elegant look and feel, light weight, thinness, and great battery life that folks expect from a tablet.
Whether this will sell briskly or not remains to be seen...
All I know is the BMW Group, The Coca-Cola Company and LVMH have seen the product and are ordering it for their company use...

At those prices? No thank you. I could get an Apple MacBook Air 4 GB/256 GB storage version for way less.

Because you need something that can do both (if that’s the case). But to be fair this is larger than an iPad with a 12” screen so it’s not exactly a tablet either.
This is really a laptop that is ultra-ultra mobile.

Funny to hear someone wanting to buy apple products because they are cheaper. Wow...how the times have turned.

Surface 2 pro isn’t a 12” screen. But point taken about needing to work on a bigger monitor and it has a dock or displayport to hook up multiple monitors.

My thoughts exactly. This is really for the pen support and portrait layout. It would be an amazing machine for taking notes and doing work. Plus you can use it as a very large tablet.

Well, at least the MacBook Air is an actually usable laptop. With the Surface Pro 3, I have to learn how to use the quirky Windows 8.x interface—kind of no thanks!
