Those of us who run 'free' versions of the major Linux distributions, in my case OpenSUSE, and in Shadow Ace's case Fedora are Beta testers. OpenSUSE beta tests the applications and kernel that will eventually become Novell Enterprise Linux, and Fedora does the same thing for Red Hat.
The mature versions of those products --Novell Enterprise and Red Hat-- are rock solid and designed for business use. They're not going to add a product or application that hasn't been fully tested.
Many of us have had to deal with buggy applications. In my case, trying to get the kernel to deal with the legacy nVidia drivers was an experiment in frustration.
What is your relationship with Apple? Are you an employee or a paid PR person? Looking at your other posts, you are a huge Apple defender, and I am just wondering.
Please do not take this as an attack. Even if you are not independent from Apple doesn’t mean that the information you share is false. Unlike liberals, I don’t attack the messenger if I don’t like the message. Good info is good info regardless of who propagates it. I just want to know more about a person who seems to be more knowledgeable than most regarding Apple. Thank you.
In addition for thirty years I've been a business consultant and cross platform consultant on both PC and Mac platforms and own a business in that field. I've been a publisher and editor in the IT field and written many articles. Between my business and maintaining the ping list for FR, I've probably read most published articles written on Apple and I've attended every Macworld but two since 1995.
I've written database software for Macs including a complete custom accounting package with payroll, and a package which ran for twenty years to maintain the client and donor data at Food Bank I founded . . It took me two years to fool proof the input routines, so that people, taken out of the food lines, who had never touched a computer, could operate it with just two hours training.
In addition, as part of my business consulting business, I've managed a dental office for one of the top dental implantologists in the world, which is run entirely with Mac computers, including 3D radiology. (Full disclosure, the head dentist owns several hundred thousand dollars of Apple stock). Others of my clients in optometry, medical, publishing, and legal fields variously run Windows, Mac, Linux, or a combination. I run an iMac with ALL three operating systems running on it simultaneously in sandboxes under OSX9.3 Mavericks, to support my clients as needed. For Windows, I run Windows XP, 7, 8 and 8.1, all in sandboxes. I've occasionally run two simultaneously while OSX is running happily. I also have an iPad Air, an iPhone5, a MacBook Air, AppleTV, and various older Macs. I've also owned and supported various Windows computers.
As to truth, I abhor propaganda. That's what you got from the NCPPR and Justin Danhof's "press release" which mis-characterized the events at the Apple stockholder meeting. Their headline quoted Tim Cook as saying to conservative investors who do not believe in global warming to "drop dead" but those words were NEVER uttered. The NCPPR, wrote a screed that pushed their agenda, but did not tell the truth about what happened. The press report conflated Cook's comments on multiple issues to just "global Warming" when it was only a single mention of "sustainability" among half a dozen other ROI issues, and Cook was, according to other observers, speaking directly to Danhof when telling him to divest, not all "conservative stockholders" in general. The NCPPR introduced a motion that only received 2.97% support. Justin Danhof then tried to get Cook to negate that vote, ignore the will of the stockholders, and commit to only supporting actions at the management level that would increase stockholder's Return on Investment! That is something no one can assure. . . and this pipsqueak is criticizing the management of the company that has just reported the greatest year in history for earnings, profitability, AND returns to stockholders of ANY publicly traded company as though a minor operating expense item is too great to bear! In my opinion, Tim Cook had a right to be angry with the ungrateful pipsqueak!
As to the truth of my information, you can check my sources. My integrity is important to me. I am held in great esteem in my community. I founded one of the local Food Banks which operated for 26 years. . . and was in 1989 honored as the "Modern Father of the main Emergency Food Bank" in my city for re-establishing it, re-incorporating it as a modern non-profit, running the fund raiser and building the warehouse and offices, and re-vitalizing the moribund board of directors.
Shortly after that the Superior Court Judges in San Joaquin County appointed me the Foreman of the Grand Jury. . . One year term. You'll have to judge yourself if I'm truthful. Others on FR have another opinion. . . but in my opinion, they prefer to believe everything negative they hear about Apple and refuse to believe any countering facts. . . one, even seems to claim I create all the countering facts and websites and I convince any one who writes anything positive about Apple by my great Svengali powers. LOL!

I thank you for correcting me. I am actually quite relieved. I am typing this on a Macbook Air, and Apple is the only computer company who actually has great customer service (apart from their wonderful ease of use of their products) when i go to their store (they actually solve my technology problems, and most times for free!). So it is with great sadness that I read Tim Cook’s supposedly deranged screed about global warming. I am tired of companies getting in bed with the Left’s favorite pet policies, and I am relieved that I don’t have to go back to Microsoft products!
You have had great success in business, and through hard work have become an expert in several related fields. You have also made a big difference in the lives of some of our neediest citizens thanks to your efforts with Food Bank.
