I understand why these newer cruise ships look so top heavy to maximize the number of suites with a view but they look hideous. Why would they want to deflect the wind? Isn't the point of going on a cruise is to feel the ocean breeze?

depends on what your doing and where you are.
If your on a Alaskan cruise and you hanging out near the pool, a gail force Arctic breeze isn't what you want.

Most cruise ships steam at about 19 to21 knots and some ambient wind to it its more than a bit of breeze

Maybe for the increasing number of older boomers. With some older people it could be 95 and sunny but if the breeze is steady they are going to be cold.

That’s a cruise liner? It looks more like a floating public housing project. Ugly

Me - Did you enjoy the cruise.
Friend - Yeah, the food was awesome.
Me - Anything else?
Friend - Yeah, there was always something to eat.

You could put some tennis courts up there on the top deck. That would be interesting. Skeet shooting would be fun too.

Curious.
That artist’s rendering depicts a vessel I wouldn’t want to be aboard in heavy seas, and high winds.
I worked in shoreside vessel operations on dock for many years, and heard stories about the difficulties of navigating high profile vessels such as car carriers returning light to Europe, and Asia. Passengers don’t weigh as much as cars, so I see a similar problem here.
That picture makes me wonder about that vessels stability during less than fair weather.

Relax, Citizen.
It’s a floating iPhone ! You have nothing to fear.
A FLOATING IPHONE ?! That is the most ignorant thing I’ve ever read. That’s worse than “journalists” who describe volume in “Starbucks” units of measurement.
Thank you, “journalist” for insulting my intelligence.
