A public elementary school principal in Portland, Ore. has declared that eating or talking about peanut butter sandwiches is probably racist. She has also instituted a separate-but-unequal drum class for minority students only.
Verenice Gutierrez, the principal at Harvey Scott K-8 School, discussed her bizarre brand of logic in an interview with the Portland Tribune.
What about Somali or Hispanic students, who might not eat sandwiches? Gutierrez asked. Another way would be to say: Americans eat peanut butter and jelly, do you have anything like that? Let them tell you. Maybe they eat torta. Or pita.
Harvey Scott K-8 also offers a segregated lunchtime drum class for middle school black and Hispanic boys only. Participants must be male. They cannot be white or Asian.
One parent, who wrote to the Tribune anonymously, calls the segregated class blatant discrimination and [in]equity of women, Asians, whites and Native Americans.
This club was approved by the administration, and any girls who complained were brushed off and it was not addressed, the parent added.

I’m white and I don’t feel that peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are racist toward my race.
Racist people think everything is racist. They project their faulty thinking upon everyone else. In this age of Obamaism, every white person is racist, even though the vast majority of them aren’t. We might as well celebrate racism by doing things like eating peanut butter sandwiches with prickly pear jam and jalapenos, with a side of candied yams and fried rice, finished with a big helping of watermelon.
Racism has been so relegated to the trivial it can no longer be taken seriously. If we do take it seriously, this lady should be prosecuted for hate crimes against white kids.
*What about Somali or Hispanic students, who might not eat sandwiches*
that’s a racist and repressive assumption demonstrating not only ignorance and insensitivity to anglo students, but also ignorance and insensitivity to somali or hispanic students. They didn’t all live in huts eating beans, rice and unleavened bread before they came here and they certainly don’t live on beans and rice after immigrating to the USA. Peanut butter was the first ‘natural’ sandwich ingredient (unless one counted cucumber and watercress), no meat products used, and so should be revered and promoted as environmentally conscious by the eco-nuts.
The shawarma is a (shaved) meat sandwich.

Is this satire? Please?
You're trivializing the black and Mexican cultures, which is highly racist!
Oh thanks! Its going to take a couple of gallons of brain bleach to get that image out of my neurons...
I used to go so far as to disguise my peanut butter jars as pickle jars and I would buy my peanut butter from supermarkets out of town so that nobody who recognized me would see me buying peanut butter.
I do try to show my gastronomic diversity by eating tacos, sushi and General Tso's chicken when out in public but when I'm by myself and I'm fairly certain I will be alone for a while, I will gorge on peanut butter.
Please do not think less of me for it.
You can't make this stuff up.
The problem is that you "don't feel" therefore you must be insensitive and a racist. Also, you probably have some mental disorder, about not feeling, that can be overcome with the right treatment and a trip to a re-education camp. I'm sure treatment is covered under Obamacare/s
Never mind the nutritional value of peanut butter. . . .
I just sent a link to this thread to some relatives who moved to Oregon a few years ago. I told them they need to be saving sooner rather than later for private school education for their children.
Ouch
Genius principal.
Watermelon, peanut butter, jelly, bananas. Every other fruit and vegetable. Every word in Webster’s dictionary.
Say one of them and you’ll be called racist (if you’re White)
Welcome to the world after freedom of speech.
Eventually it will be racist not to be racist. Then they will have covered everything.
It already is. If you say, "There's no reason black children can't learn to read, write, and add as well as white or Asian children," then you're racist for not thinking black children are inherently unable to achieve basic literacy and numeracy.
