The future of bat retrieval in baseball is finally here.
During this year's ACC baseball tournament, someone had the terrific idea of replacing the bat boy with a bat dog. The dog in the Instagram video above is Miss LouLou Gehrig, the bat dog of the Single-A Greensboro Grasshoppers.

For several years, the Trenton Thunder of the Eastern League had a bat-retrieving dog named Chase the Thunder Dog. They actually had a ceremony for Chase when he died.
The bat dog for the Greensboro Grasshoppers is and has been for 6 or 7 years Miss Babe Ruth. Miss LouLou is the understudy. They also deliver the fresh balls.
