Ford could’ve easily been replaced with Tom Selleck and it would’ve been just as good. Aside from the visuals, it was all the supporting players that made it tops. I don’t see anyone today that could come close to equaling those actors. Too many pretty boys that are as menacing as an egg salad sandwich. Hauer, the late Brion James, Joanna Cassidy and even Daryl Hannah all managed to be menacing. The great Joe Turkel as Tyrell (who was also just as great in his small part as the bartender in “The Shining”).

Ford in the Bryant role. Keep Sean Young as his squeeze toy. That is a subplot which comes into play later on in the movie. The Deckard role I would give to Benjamin Cumberpatch (star trek into the darkness) Want someone recognizable but not a big star and can pull off the noir.
Willem Dafoe runs the company. The Hauer role is tough to fill. Maybe Billy Zane. Or switch Zane and Cumberpatch. I would stick with Olmos as Bryant’s sidekick.
As for women, I couldn’t fathom a guess. Maybe Natalie Portman.
You hit the nail on the head. Just saw "Sergeant York" (again) over the weekend. Gary Cooper was a grown up, mature man.
