3am, a no knock warrant, the flash bang gernade lands in the playpen and the baby's face and chest are ripped open. I dont know how this could have been avoided unless the cops waited until maybe 6:30am when they would have still been asleep but it is daylight. Now the cop that threw the grenade has to live with this the rest of his life. However, the bottom line is if no drugs had been sold out of the house, no cops would have been there at 3am.

... but in this case, I blame the legal system, not the policeman whose life will be forever haunted by this horror.

And it is important to note that the police had no way of suspecting that there could be a child present: it was not a bedroom, and the homeowners had no children.

The bottom line is that there is no excuse for throwing a live grenade into a child’s bed. Period.

The only "domestic terrorist" present was the officer who threw a grenade and injured a baby.

“The last thing you want is law enforcement to injure someone innocent,” Habersham County Sheriff Joey Terrell told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “There was no malicious act performed. It was a terrible accident that was never supposed to happen.”

WRONG. As a former LEO I call bullshit on this statement. The perosn you were after was not in the location. You had no idea who was in the location. In other words you rolled the dice. That is no accident, that is incompetence.

Right, so contraband law excuses such an abomination?

No knock warrants are Tyrannical and unconstitutional! But we wouldn't want such trivialities to get in the way of the War on Drugs...

Prosecuting all the meth transactions in history isn't worth what happened to this child!

Flash-bang, my ass. Go to hell.

However; there are many INNOCENT people who have just been going about their daily routine when surprised by a 'no knock' warrant...my wife and I were such victims. A town employee with an ax to grind went to his buddies on the police force, and the next thing you know...

End 'no knock' warrants before more people die...

Can citizens use this defense? Or is it available only to our overseers?

I notice in #43 you are basically saying your comments were being misread.

YOU may want to reread your comment under #1.

Without a ‘sarcasm’ indicator this surely looks like you are not only condoning the actions but ridiculing the people in the house and anyone that may disagree with your comments.

In no way (in #1) do you even vaguely ‘condemn’ or otherwise ‘question’ the Cops actions or intentions.

In 43 you are basically complaining that nobody ‘understood’ you....
Maybe if you had even started the first sentence in #1 as

“How do you explain that, at 3AM......etc ... etc ...

You would NOT have generated so many objections to YOUR answer.

Even if we have to mutilate a million babies, it’s worth it if we can prevent even one idiot from putting unapproved substances in his body.

The bottom line is that if government were yet bound by the Constitution, we would have NO war on some drugs, as government would KNOW that it has ZERO business “protecting us from ourselves”! There is no possible justification for jailing people whose sole “crime” is to ingest something some bluenose doesn’t like. None whatsoever. Contrary to popular belief, drug users do NOT “damage society”; they only damage themselves and possibly, nay, probably hurt their families. Any actual CRIMINAL acts they might commit while under the influence are already covered.

I have absolutely no use for ANYONE who advocates such activities, ESPECIALLY one who has sworn an oath to PROTECT our Constitution and the Republic. You are NOT protecting, you are SHREDDING the Constitution and, as far as I am concerned, you belong in the prison cell right next to Obummer and his merry band of slimeballs.

A 19-month-old boy critically injured when a police device was tossed into his bed has a 50 percent chance of surviving [...] a confidential informant said he bought methamphetamine

The War on Drugs is for the children.
