Monarch is to introduce non-reclining seats across its entire fleet of planes. The light-weight design, to be rolled out this summer, has been launched to create more living space for passengers after customer research showed the existing style was unpopular. It comes after surveys revealed that nine in ten travellers wanted reclining seats banned, and voted them one of the most common causes of mid-flight anger.

Do you take a huge carryon so that you have to move other carryons to make space for yours?
I also can’t guarentee that I won’t accidentaly kick the reclined seat in front of me.

Two main reasons I don’t fly unless I have to is airport security, and rude, inconsiderate passengers. since I wasn’t born with a silver spoon, I can’t financially justify flying first class, so, if if driving is an option, I’ll drive rather than fly.
Oh yeah, a third reason - the airlines generally abuse their paying customers.
I like this idea.
Hell no and I did it all the way to some place a few years ago. Some college jock sat in front of me and laid his seat back as far as he could so he could sleep. He got no sleep at all that trip. I kept “adjusting” slightly bumping his seat the whole trip with the occasional (every 3 min or so) jolting knee kick in the back of his seat. I loved every mintute of that flight :)
They sell devices (two to a pack) that you can attach to the seat frame in front of you that does not allow the seat to recline at all. My mother bought some and gave me a pair but I have yet to use them. The “What is it” segment of Ask This Old House had these as the what is it item on one of their shows.
Especially in the winter months. I carry on a back pack that I shove under the seat in front of me becuase I can access it during the flight and becuase by the time I get on the plane all the overheads are full. Full of peoples (women’s) coats, purses big enough to be a suitcase, and carry on bag.
