Toddler Critically Injured During Police Raid
CBS Atlanta ^ | 05/30/2014 | CBS news

A 19-month-old toddler was critically injured after a police flash bang was tossed into his bed during a police raid at a Habersham County home on Wednesday.

“It’s my baby. He’s my only baby. He didn’t deserve any of this,” said Alecia Phonesavanh, the mother of the child.

“It landed in his playpen and exploded right in his face,” said Phonesavanh.

The child is now being treated at Grady hospital and has a 50 percent chance of survival.

"I don’t care how much anyone hates drugs, or how much damage they have done, “no knock” warrants and the use of SWAT teams (for ANYTHING other than hostage rescue) have done, and are doing, more damage to the republic."

I was going to say the same thing. SWAT for hostage situations only. Who cares if they flush the drugs down the toilet - charge them on the controlled buy. I bet 99% of the time if they just called the dealers would come out with their hands up.

Like, Sheriff Andy shows up at the door with the paper warrant? He may wear his sidearm if he thinks it necessary.

Imagine that!

The article is terribly weak on details.

What ever happened to gathering intelligence? Have we decended to the point that all contacts with the civilian population are now military operations with combat entry / raids now being the norm?

There are no blameless parties here, except the child

The suspect was arrested at another house. It appears everyone in this house that was raided by the police was blameless. Unless I'm missing something.

See post #9. Wrong family was targeted.

So your advice “If you have children, don’t manufacture or deal drugs out of your home.” doesn’t help, and this isn’t the first case the cops went to the wrong house.

No worries, I am with you on this one. I just wanted to point out that it’s even worse than you stated, since the victim’s family wasn’t even involved in the crime they were raiding the house over.

At least this one has photos:

That’s Atlanta for you. Brought to you by the same Dog-squad that took a drug addled CI’s word and invaded some octogenarian lady’s home and MURDERED her because she had the gall to hold her self-protection revolver up to them when they crashed in no-knock.

BTW, those Dog-squad members or whatever they called themselves lied in their statements and reports. One or more of them went to prison. And, I’d expect that the lady’s heirs settled with CoA for a princely sum.

That “someone” doesn’t need to get ‘fired’. That ‘someone’ needs to be in prison for a very long time.

Well just as long as no precious police were hurt, then it’s OK.

Atlanta already had issues with their no knock warrants. Remember the 90 year old woman that got shot when they barged in on her?

See #9. Everyone in the house was blameless. The cops 100% to blame.

That poor baby. Someone needs to get fired.

Fired? Put in jail for 25 years is more like it.

However, folks, the most important take away from all of this is that this toddler’s parents were drug dealers as reported by a police CI.

The toddler's parents were NOT the drug dealers. It was the woman who lived there and let this family STAY at her house because they had no where else to live.

The cops 100% to blame.

The cops 100% will face no consequences for their criminal actions.
