A 19-month-old toddler was critically injured after a police flash bang was tossed into his bed during a police raid at a Habersham County home on Wednesday.

“It’s my baby. He’s my only baby. He didn’t deserve any of this,” said Alecia Phonesavanh, the mother of the child.

“It landed in his playpen and exploded right in his face,” said Phonesavanh.

The child is now being treated at Grady hospital and has a 50 percent chance of survival.

Just as it is indeed too bad that so many damn surrender monkeys grandstand on these incidents as a reason to legalize drugs.

Rational people can see the need to legally enforce drug laws. Surrendering in the WOD would only lead to more of these nazi style raids amd worse.

If drugs were legalized, on what pretext would these Nazi style raids occur? Are there now Nazi style raids for the legal drug alcohol?

I guess only murderers are apprehended that way, not petty drug dealers/users.

Well, this wasn't a case of attempting to apprehend just a "petty drug dealer/user" . They knew that the perp might be armed. From my comment and the article to which I linked:

Law enforcement officials were familiar with Thometheva, who had prior drug and firearm related arrests.

Here's another article from AJC:
Terrell justified the use of the no-knock warrant by telling the AJC that Thometheva, of Cornelia, had possessed weapons including an AK-47 assault rifle, during a previous drug arrest. Random photo of AK-47.

I remember this very distinctly. I was driving my wife to work at about 6:00AM and I heard it on WSB drive time radio. Outrageous.

So they knew he might be armed from prior arrests, but they didn’t even undertake the minimal amount effort it would have taken to know whether the guy was in the home? What if they’d stormed the place and there were 4-5 armed guys there? They wouldn’t have had a clue. It was stupid on every level.

All the more reason they should have made sure that no one else was in the house before busting in, don’t you think?

Fired? Put in jail for 25 years is more like it.

After having a flash grenade set off in his face.

The woman should get a lawyer for a civil lawsuit. Taxpayers not perps (sheriff etc) would pay, but the family would at least get help for medical bills, later care if the child survives, and more than a little pain and suffering.

blah blah ... AK47 ... blah blah ...

I am quite certain that if this person had an “automatic Kalishnikov” he would have been arrested for not paying the taxes on it ... I’d be willing to bet EVERYTHING I have that it was a “SKS47” or possibly a SKS74 ... with the first “s” meaning SEMI ,,, It may be a minor point , easily attributed to stupidity on the part of the reporting agency but it happens ALL the time ,, it is intentional to blur the distinction between semi auto’s and full auto weapons.

Not you ,, referring to those worthless “journalists” like those at the AJC ... they know there’s a difference but they refuse to acknowledge it...

It may come to that. But the original claim that I was challenging was that more of these raids would occur if we legalized drugs.

What is ridiculous about her statement?

i shared my view on why this entire episode was the blame of the police, and no one else... ridiculous to say no one was blameless aside from the baby...

Adults who expose kids to the dangers of their illegal activities are not blameless.

nobody in the house had anything to do with it... the person they were looking for was not in the house... you are fine with these tactics? what about knocking on the door and serving a search warrant? how about doing some surveillance to see who is even in the house? no? let's just go off a tip, show up at the house, and burst your way--ask questions later... what if they had the wrong house? that does happen--too often...

if i am in the house and i am accidentally targeted, do you think i am thinking, "well at least i know i am not to blame." hell no... i do not want to be accidentally targeted in the first place because law enforcement did not do a thorough job of doing their job...

p.s.--the Freeper who made the original comment offered a mea culpa for presuming...
