Is Tabasco's New Sriracha Any Good?
Yahoo ^ | May 29, 2014 | Rachel Tepper

Huy Fong Foods, which produces the iconic sriracha hot sauce emblazoned with a strutting rooster, can breathe a sigh of relief.

The local city council, which had been collecting complaints about unseemly odors emanating from the company’s Irwindale, California factory, has officially dropped its public-nuisance order and lawsuit against it.

But Huy Fong Foods may have another headache on the horizon: Tabasco’s new sriracha, which the company quietly launched earlier this year.

Sriracha hails from Thailand, and although it tends to feature a slightly different recipe stateside, the name typically refers to a sauce containing “chilies which are ground into a paste before being preserved in vinegar, salt, and garlic.” So Huy Fong Foods doesn’t own the name “sriracha.”

Test: How can you tell when the hot sauce you use, is the best?

Answers, later!
It is not the Scoville Scale!

I'll try the Tabasco version, but it's going to have to be something special to push the Huy Fong Rooster out of my fridge.

I second the motion. Every Sunday morning Wifey makes an omelet and I put Huy Fong's magic sauce on it. Later she has to hit me with the paddles to bring me back to Planet Earth. Tabasco has its work cut out for them.

Cholula is better but much more expensive than Tapatio.

He’s a competitive eater so he’s used to it.

He’s only 30 but won’t live much longer if he keeps abusing his stomach.

BTW, a doctor long ago told me that you cannot damage your stomach with spicy foods. Upset it? Yeah, but not damage it.

I keep trying. Dave’s ‘Temporary Insanity’ (also made in the U.S.A.)is my current accomplice.
