VANITY: DFW-area places to see model baths?

Posted on 05/31/2014 8:30:08 AM PDT by Badabing Badablonde

Remodeling baths on a grand scale -- ripping out tubs and sinks, just Bath Crashers. Last time I was involved in something on this scale, I could go to Home Depot Expo to see baths and kitchens galore. The design experts helped us come up with a plan and assisted us in our choices.

Apparently, they have since closed all of their Expo Centers. We visited a place called Home Decor, I think, and they had a few model bathrooms that gave us some basic ideas. We also visited some model homes in new neighborhhods, and the baths looked great but still fairly generic.

So is there any place in the DFW area that has models baths with varying styles?

Thanks in advance!

I read the title too quickly as “places to see models bathe” and though, “cool!”

Why? With all of the options available these days, you don’t have to be stuck with only a few choices.

Well, I am thinking of the same thing, just don’t want it to look like all the others, I have a 60 year old ranch, don’t want to try to remake it to a McMansion style.

The Tile Shop helped us with both a bath and a kitchen remodel. Great selection with affordable prices.

I know what you mean. I want it to have some character, but most of the design experts I’ve worked with in the past try to discourage me from doing anything interesting, saying that it makes the house harder to seel.

Come to Wisconsin on a little vacay. Kohler (about 80 miles north of Milwaukee) has a design center with more than 100 vignette room displays of baths, kitchens, spas, as well as all of their products on display. The design center is open 364 days a year, free to the public. They sell NOTHING, but will provide catalogs for all of their products and will give you the names of dealers who can order them for you.

Even places like Lowes and home Depot can special order products that they normally do not carry, if you have the item number.

The Design Center has a “museum” in the basement where the history of the Kohler company is displayed. If I remember correctly, they started as a gravemaker company, making elaborate, cast iron crosses in Victorian days. They then branched out into plumbing fixtures and were the first American company to use color in their fixtures.

There is also a section where Kohler designers and artists display their own work created in their spare time using company tools.

The Kohler Design center is the best free attraction in SE Wisconsin. I go there just for fun.

Did you even read what you wrote? You asked where to see models. Stores see no point in building models these days because there are far too many options. You now look at the individual parts and design your own bathroom.
