A sunbather on a small island off Germany picked a poor spot to catch some rays, and a pilot of a small plane picked a poor time to misjudge his landing.
The two errors in judgment nearly resulted in a catastrophe as the small plane just barely missed hitting the man lying on the beach on the island of Dune in the Heligoland archipelago.
It was me that was flying and I am really sorry, pilot Juergen Drucker, 52, told the MailOnline on Monday. I have to say, as the pictures show, that it wasnt one of my greatest achievements in the cockpit.
Uh, no, it wasnt. Beachgoer Rainer Schmidt, 52, caught the embarrassing and near-tragic moment on video. Watch (German commentary is from Bild.TV)

Oops
In all honesty, the sunbather was laying down about 50 feet from the end of an airport runway and directly in the path of incoming landing aircraft, which is Darwin Award behavior.
It is not uncommon for pilots to land slightly short of the runway.
Laying around in the sand on Dune is likely to get you eaten by a Worm.
However the "brush-back" was much closer than expected and now the pilot is pretending he never saw him.
Shave and a haircut from the prop; my lead-in ad was something about a Gilette body shaver, so I guess somebody else thought the same thing
Target fixation?
