In all honesty, the sunbather was laying down about 50 feet from the end of an airport runway and directly in the path of incoming landing aircraft, which is Darwin Award behavior.
It is not uncommon for pilots to land slightly short of the runway.

I think this was done on purpose. The pilot had to see him and probably wanted to give him a good scare. Just like motorists will sometimes give bicyclists a good scare if they feel they are not far enough to the right and encroaching on their territory.
However the "brush-back" was much closer than expected and now the pilot is pretending he never saw him.
