Democrats have done more damage to Detroit than any natural disaster could.

There are good things going on in Detroit that are a direct result of Republicans having control of the state. The murder rate is way down as a result of the republicans appointing a good police chief and making the state an open carry state with Detroit being an open carry city as a result.

Lots of private money going into the city too. Roger Penske has almost single handedly saved the Detroit Grand Prix and even expanded it to a double with the top IndyCar series running a race on Saturday and Sunday. I would have liked to have gone to watch the Stadium Super Truck Series which raced on Friday (free admission that day).

Car/deer accidents don’t help our auto insurance rates much though.

There have been something like 15 justifiable homicides this year so far but I don’t know if they’re included.

True enough. But I can tell you i live on the lake (less than 100 yards from my front door) and I can also say the weather we get up here will vary signifigantly from what Detroit gets. For example: the weekend after thanksgiving, 2000. Detroit got a dusting of snow. Port Huron and points north got 17 inches over 6 hours. I will quite often listen to the Canadian weather forecast due to the fact that it’s more accurate to my area than the Detroit forecast. So I’ll agree with your assessment- up to a point.
