While the then existing dues for active employees was the first two pay hours of each month, approx. $50 for the skilled trades guys, I was amazed at the number of retirees who chose to have the $2 dues fee deducted from their pension, not knowing that the only thing it guaranteed was that they would receive a monthly news letter.
They thought they would receive representation..........
My company just announced it was filing bankruptsy with the court hearing comming up this month, and the members of a retiree based website were complaining about who was going to represent them at the hearing, asking where were their "monthly dues" going to.......They believed their $2 monthly deduction actually afforded them UAW International representation.......
With that being said, their concerns and mine are justified but for them to believe that their $2.00 deduction afforded them International representation was based on a fallacy.........
Gotta fund those dem candidates campaigns off the backs of the working man.
hmmm... so now instead of 30 minutes of union bidnizz on the clock per week it will be 37 minutes, 30 seconds.
They didn’t raise dues by 25%, they raised the RATE that people pay in dues by 25%. Big difference, because dues have been going up with salary for ALL of those 47 years.
I suspect that they’re just trying to head off a revolt by the working class.
