The A&E network has released a 30-second teaser trailer promoting the new season of "Duck Dynasty," featuring classic Robertson family antics along with a brief guest appearance from Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal. The new season is slated to premiere next Wednesday, June 11.
The short preview features several of the beloved characters from the reality show, including Korie and Willie Robertson, as well as brothers Jase and Jep Robertson. One scene shows Willie, Jase and Jep participating in a volunteer firefighter training course, while another clip shows Si Robertson, the classically quirky uncle of the family, engaging in some of his well-known ramblings to the camera.
The end of the short clip shows Governor Bobby Jindal greeting the Robertson clan, including Willie, the CEO of Duck Commander, in the company's warehouse. Gov. Jindal is expected to be in part of season six's premiere, as he was filmed in West Monroe earlier this year awarding Willie Robertson the inaugural "Governor's Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence" for turning the family's Duck Commander business into a multi-million dollar American success story.
At the award ceremony, local media outlets reported that Jindal chose Robertson for the award for "[living] the American Dream" and "[proving] there are no limits to what you can accomplish."
The A&E network announced Jindal's appearance on the show back in May, when it published a press release announcing season six's June 11 release date. According to the press release, Jindal's cameo in the show's first episode will be accompanied by an introductory speech by Willie's son, John Luke, as well as a subplot involving Miss Kay's search for the perfect outfit for the award ceremony.
Gov. Jindal has been linked to the Robertson family multiple times in the past year. When Phil Robertson was criticized for comments he made to GQ Magazine regarding homosexuality last December, the Louisiana governor famously jumped to the reality show star's defense, saying in a statement that he "[acknowledges] that this is a free country and everyone is entitled to express their views."
Jindal and Phil Robertson also both spoke at the Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans last week. Last month, Jindal's wife, Supriya, joined Korie Robertson in rappelling 300 feet down the One America Place building in Baton Rouge to raise awareness for the 300 foster children currently awaiting adoption in the state of Louisiana.
I believe there is a lesson we can learn somewhere...
Here's one: BE COURAGEOUS AND STAND YOUR GROUND WHEN YOU KNOW YOU'RE RIGHT.
uncle si could have his own show, and make a few movies too.
you couldn’t create a character as funny as he is.
You can see Willie giving Jindal the googly eyes. Of all the characters I like him the least. He’s a CEO of a multi-billion dollar corporation you know. It’s still our favorite show on TV. Hope success doesn’t go to their heads.
I agree with you. But we should remember that Willie's conceited CEO behavior is a contrived, made for TV schtick that is inserted for drama. No "reality show" can succeed with some conflict and surrounding drama, and in the Robertsons' case, they had to invent it and it's laughable! That's a good thing.
