three pit bulls escaped from a Roswell shelter and viciously attacked a 9-year-old boy.

He was rushed to the hospital, but is now at home recovering.

He talked to KOB Eyewitness News 4 about his frightening experience.

“Really rough I could barely sleep last night," said 9-year-old Colby Prince.

Three pit bulls escaped from a rescue shelter and went right for Colby as he was in his backyard watering his horses.

“So, they started jogging toward me, I told them no they stopped for a little bit then they started coming at me again and started jumping on me I told them no then they started biting me," said Prince.

The fourth grader was clawed, bitten, and mauled.

And what’s worse, he couldn’t get away.

“By the time they got me it was too late," said Prince.

The terrified 9-year-old says he thought he was going to die

Pit bulls involved in attacks always escape enclosures. It’s been a problem for many many years and still, owners or in this case, animal shelters just can’t keep these dogs penned up. Impossible.
And of course, the DOGS OF PEACE invariably go hunting when they get out. And children are small game.
I was touched by the little boy’s demeanor while being interviewed - he knows he escaped death and was holding up well throughout the interview. He said his father shot two of the attacking dogs and that he was glad because he’d never have to worry about those two dogs again. Then he praised his father as “The best Dad in the world....” Dog #3 will be euthanized.

Imagine how frustrating and terrifying it would be to NOT own a gun in that situation.

Too horrible to think of what would have happened! What chance does a child have against 3 pits when one pit is sufficient to kill an adult in their prime?

Surfing the web today, I came across several other recent pit bull attacks. Here’s an except of one on June 6 that had me wondering if the text would read different had someone present been armed:

“The child lost more than 60 percent of her scalp because of the dog attacks and required 80 stitches to her head and face, according to authorities, who said she also suffered lost tissue trauma on her abdomen, legs and arms.”

That is a very lucky and very articulate little boy. He and his family will never forget this. I personally would be able to handle it if this breed was not allowed to produce anymore and was made sterile by executive order. No foreign visitors would be allowed to bring any new ones into the country. Imagine.
