LOS ANGELES, June 11 (UPI)--Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Daniel S. Murphy ruled Wednesday Casey Kasem's daughter, Kerri Kasem, can make medical decisions for her 82-year-old father, who is currently in a Washington hospice care facility.
Murphy's decision reinstates Kerri's previous conservatorship and reverses another ruling ordering doctors to continue to medicate and artificially feed the ailing former DJ.
"It would be acutely harmful for Mr. Kasem to have nutrition and hydration restored at this time," the judge said. "This was at the advisement of doctors at St. Anthony's."
Kerri and two of her siblings, Julie and Mike, said they wanted to end their father's pain. He is suffering from Lewy body dementia.

"You have blood on your hands," she said in court."
It is clear to me that even with a living will this will hurt other members of the family.
Terri’s list ping. This one is not going to be easy.
the man is in misery
If there is a living will telling them to not go on if the body can’t do it in it’s own, then depending on what is going an you don’t keep using tubes and machines to keep him going.
I don’t know all the facts of this case though.
He is suffering from Lewy body dementia.
If my family wouldn’t pull the plug on me, I would be pissed and when I did finally pass away, I am haunting them for eternity. His wishes should be the only thing that matters. Sometimes staying on those machines is worse. This is not a Terri Shivo situation one bit. Casey let his intentions be known.
Beware, here come the Tyrannical Judges.
The patient made his wishes known that, in this state, he wouldn’t want to be kept alive artificially. His spouse is trying to ignore his wishes.
“I dont know all the facts of this case though.”
I don’t know either and this is the third time I will say this. This family is fighting and I just don’t like it. When people fight, even more when family fight and a person ends up dead now matter how they end up dead things are going to be bad.
In fact you think they are fighting now? Wait till Casey “assumes room temperature” then all hell will break lose.
Which is why I said when he assumes room temperature all hell is going to break lose.
I agree, there will be manipulation of his estate by his wife for only her benefit.
I also think what she is upset with is that the official people in charge of Casey as he died will be his children and not is wife further suggesting what ever the trust and will says will be viewed as being manipulated by the wife.
I am sure the children have an old copy of a will where they were not excluded. Why block the kids from their dad? Obviously there was major trouble with the wife for the judge to put the Casey children in her place.
Estate war and money is the issue here.
I do think primarily the kids want to be with their dad, but I am also sure they know there was something done with dad behind their backs with this last wife.
The irony is the daughter said the wife was not caring properly for Kasem but the daughter is ending his life and making him suffer more.
The only advice I have comes from a hospice nurse. If you wish that no heroic means be use to sustain you, that’s fine. If you wish that feeding be stopped if you’re in a vegetative state, that’s fine. If you wish that hydration be stopped, that’s a horrible mistake. No matter what gets you, it probably won’t be as bad as dying of thirst.
Hunger will fade in a few days but thirst gets more and more agonizing the longer it persists and no doctor on earth can say how aware you might be.
Not true, could be the wife let him decline with all the moving and maybe now he internally is beyond a point of no return.
Which way is worse: Starving or drowning? I guess the wife’s way is quicker. Maybe?
What’s not true? I did include the allegations about the wife not caring properly for Kasem. He was suffering from bed sores in her care and that’s a sign he wasn’t being cared for properly plus I think he had pneumonia.
Why the hospital didn’t intervene sooner is a mystery.
I’m not saying anything about what you said is or is not true. I am suggesting possibilities and even mine are speculation until the news of the aftermath hits TMZ, right?
And, at that point, what's the point of keeping someone artificially alive? It's just delaying the inevitable.
My living will leaves no wiggle room.
He had a living-will specifically rejecting heroic measures to keep him alive.
I thank my late parents for there expicit dnrs and choice to pass as peacefully as the did although my dad fought it till the end first fathers day with out him
