Thank you. I still have a lot of stuff to go through. I was heartened to hear someone on Antiques Roadshow (British version) say the other day, “You are NOT required to give a home to somebody else’s collection...”

I have quite a few 1st editions of Clive Cussler and Tom Clancy. I also have a bunch of really old Mark Twains. We had most of our stuff in storage for 8 years and now it is like Christmas opening up things and finding things we forgot about. Of course we are also doing the “What the heck did I keep this for...?” with a number of items.

MrT5 told me about the feelings of bitterness and betrayal he and the rest who served in Nam had when they saw the choppers landing-and my compadre, who was also there said he knew exactly how our soldiers must feel right about now...

I’ve been singing this song ever since I got home-I don’t remember hearing it on a classic rock station recently, and I am surprised I remember some of the words...

“Once I said I wanted you, I don’t remember why
I often wonder if it’s true that you could make me cry
I only know it’s long ago you said I love you too
But I got one solution that we’re gonna start anew-

How do you do, mm mm
I thought Wa-na Na-na Na-na
Just me and you, and then we can Na-na Na-na
Just like before, and you will say Na-na Na-na
Please give me more, and you will think Na-na Na-na
Hey that’s what I’m living for”...

glad you had a good wedding, and i am sure you gave a great speech. The Best man at my niece’s wedding did a great job, he got choked up and i was moved to tears. he did a far better job than the maid of honor did, bc her’s was kind of snide and sarcastic and she was trying too hard to be clever. The bride had had her deceased mother’s bridal gown made into a baby doll style white dress which she wore to the rehearsal dinner. They also used the satin from what was cut off of my SIL’s gown to use to cover the stems of the bouquets, so it was very touching and they paid much homage to her in lots of little ways.

Definitely bubble gum-early 70-ish. I had a friend who would always start singing it every time it played on the radio.

Thank you! It is only a little tile border, but any bit of money is more than welcome...

We’re at the vet picking her up now. She got knocked out and some stiches. We’ll have to hope she doesn’t get any infection. We’ll treat it with topicals, of course.

She’ll be an indoor only chicken now.

I have a question. My SIL asked if we were going to hire a cop for the reception or does the country club have its own security. She said their reception hall waived that requirement for them bc they did not serve alcohol at my niece’s wedding in Ytown. I was taken aback bc I’ve never heard of such a thing. I’m wondering if its a UNION requirement? VA being a right to work state, unlike OH, so might that be the diff? Though xshub and I got married in Pgh, had alcohol at the wedding, but had no cop. Wasn’t any cop/security in upstate NY this w/e that I was aware of. If there’s any ruckus I assume that the CC would CALL the police who would be obligated to come, regardless. What say yinz? Sounds like cop featherbedding to me.

That is a new one-I don’t think is required here-both of my receptions were at private places, garden restaurants/wedding venues out in the boonies. There was no security at either reception, but at my daughter’s first one there was security-it was at a Marriot, and the hotel provided their own security people. None at the second one, out in the boonies, same place where MrT5 and I had ours-all the receptions had open bar. It does sound like a way for cops to get extra pay...

I know people here who have chickens for pets that live on screened porches and in courtyards.

my nephew is working at a Cracker Barrel this summer in Houston and he does not get a break of any sort unless he works 8 hours and they routinely schedule him for 7+ but nit 8 hr shifts. Seems a bit inhumane to me, but TX is a rt to work state so no union to protest!

I never heard of such a thing. Ytown is a rough place.

The hall probably has a “requirement” that they frequently waive for decent folk.
