Photographer Jeff Chiu took this amazing photograph of a fan catching a home run with his left hand while holding a baby at Sunday's Giants-Rockies game at AT&T Park.

You know at first I thought it was a story about the GOP doing without Romney, I must say I was disappointed as I kept reading.

“Journalists” do seem to have grammar problems these days.
Plainly the headline writer meant ...Fan Holding Baby Catches Home Run..., since what he wrote glosses as you had it, that the home run was holding a baby, or (I’m not sure whether more or less absurdly) that the fan caught a baby who was holding a home run (reading the present participle having home run as its object and functioning as an adjective).
