Maserati Drives Into Muni Bus Yard, Wrecks
SF Weekly ^ | Mon., Jun. 16 2014 | Joe Eskenazi

Posted on 06/16/2014 9:06:49 PM PDT by nickcarraway

Few onlookers would mistake a Maserati for a Muni -- and, for those experiencing difficulty making the distinction, here's a primer.

When a hulking Muni bus parks itself over a mechanics' pit, much-needed maintenance ensues. When a minuscule Maserati attempts to do the same, it finds itself in need of maintenance of a different sort.

SF Weekly obtained the above photo of the late May mishap. Bus operators on the scene at the Potrero Muni yard joke that the Maserati driver must have been hit with a sudden and overwhelming desire to work for Muni.

That's one explanation for abruptly veering off Mariposa Street and into a working bus yard.

There are others -- but we haven't yet received word back from the police or Muni brass regarding the incident other than confirming that, yes, this did happen.

We'll update this article as more information becomes available regarding this Maserati-vs.-Muni encounter. In the meantime, the Muni personnel who work at the Potrero yard urge you to drive responsibly.

Update, 1:45 p.m.: The Maserati in question appears to be a late-model GranCabrio. That's gonna set you back something in the vicinity of $138,000 -- or more.

Also of note: The bus next to the foundered Maserati, No. 5427, is none other than Muni's Glad Bag Bus.

I guess the owner decided public transportation was more responsible?

Maybe the Maserati guy was looking to buy a SLICE OF PIZZA.

OR

He also, like the scissor-wielding pizza-slice thief, forgot to take his MEDS.

He was probably too arrogant to pay attention to traffic sighs.

We have a bus trap in my city that will trap your car if you go over it. There are signs that give lots of warning about it, but at least twice a month, people get trapped any way.

It then becomes a race between the tow truck driver to get you out and the cops to write you up.

That Maserati was apparently missing a brain. Kind of like this made for TV movie that I vaguely remember.

Well, that's a challenge. Some days one's luck just runs out, no matter what.
