Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called for Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki to step aside from his country as it gallops furiously toward civil war.
In recent days, Sunni extremist fighters from the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria moved within 50 miles of Baghdad, an alarming escalation that, the former Secretary of State told Fox News on Tuesday, the Iraqi politician had only exacerbated. Clinton said al-Maliki showed weak leadership by exhibiting a preference for Iraqi Shiites and purging senior military leaders of the rival religious sect group.
Clinton added that she is not in favor of any formal relationships or agreements with Iran at this time.
In a separate appearance at a CNN town hall Tuesday, Clinton aimed more harsh words at al-Maliki, saying that in retrospect the Prime Minister should not have rejected an extended status-of-forces agreement with the U.S., which would have kept American troops in the country beyond 2011.
I think its imperative that the government of Iraq, currently led by Maliki, be much more inclusive, much more willing to share power, involve all the different segments of Iraq, she said on CNN.

I think its imperative that the government of the USA, currently led by Obama, be much more inclusive, much more willing to share power, involve all the different segments of America, she said on CNN.
Democrats/Obama wouldn't do it here, why does Hillary think Maliki would do it in Iraq?
“Clinton said al-Maliki showed weak leadership by exhibiting a preference for Iraqi Shiites”
The Sunni minority should always be in the Iraqi drivers seat I guess. 70% of Iraq is Shiite. It seems logical that they would have the biggest voice.
But whatever, Hillary,, oh my God,, would you please freakin’ shut the F up.
ISIS is Sunni. And we were horny to bomb on their behalf in Syria.
We Americans do not have that right under Obama to go around pointing fingers, saying this or that ‘country’s leader should go’. We have too many problems in our own back yard, starting with Obama’s habit of making decisions that needlessly damage his own country. The Egyptians of today would be quick to point at Obama as a supporter and financer of mid-eastern terrorism. They feel Obama ‘should go’, as do I.
Maliki must be standing in the way of the Caliphate.
I see the Dems have figured out the latest version of the video that caused Benghazi.
No matter who had been in the civil government, AQ in its latest incarnation as ISIS would have attacked them. This isn’t political and it isn’t even “sectarian;” it’s about Islamic conquest and the annihilation of civil government.
Hillary was all about the Shi’ites back during the 2000s. This woman, loosely-termed, is never consistent.
And replace him with whom?
“This woman .... is never consistent.”
Yes she is. She is consistently ambitious, and it is all about her. She’s always been driven by her personal ambition to ‘be important’. I strongly believe that if given the opportunity to have her ‘ideological’ platform enacted in the US, but that she would never be given any credit for it or be associated with it in any way, it would not be acceptable to her.
In that dimension, she certainly is consistent; but her rhetoric never is.
One would think that the former Secretary of State would have engineered that for which she is now calling.
As far as actual accomplishments as SoS, this should have been a rather simple task.
He’s an elected leader, we can’t just say your replaced. He needs to step down.
sounds like huma wrote her talking points on behalf of the so-inclusive Saudi government
I agree, but this is because, IMHO, she has no core other than her ambitions. It's tough to be rhetorically consistent when you're always searching for what will ‘sell’, rather than just telling the truth.
It's amazing to me that she is still considered a Presidential front-runner despite all the outright lies and outrageous statements she's made (e.g. ‘I'm named after Sir Edmund Hillary.’; ‘I was shot by snipers at the airport in Bosnia’; “What difference does it make?”; “We are going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.”; “I'm not going to have some reporters pawing through our papers. We are the president.”; Who is going to find out? These women are trash. Nobodys going to believe them. - concerning Bill's issues with women).
In my opinion, any person who wants to be the Commander in Chief, and thus be responsible for when and where to put young people in harms way on the battle field, must at the very least be able to tell the truth.
No, he is affirming a Shia one! Hilary’s comments make as much sense as those after WW2 forcing eastern European countries to form coalition governments with the communists.
It is not inconsistent to oppose both Shia oppression by Sunnis, and Sunni opprssion by Shiites.
Which is not necessarily what she'd doing.
I thought she was merely a private citizen now. But all of a sudden, she wants to act like a Secretary of State, after occupying that office for four years and doing nothing but log air-miles.
